Onkyo TX NR708

Well, you would know. I am still using an Onkyo TXNR-702. Before they put HDMI in them. Guess that is the issue.

I read this statement about the 708

"Use the Ethernet port and gain access to Internet radio, SIRIUS radio and streaming PC audio."

Does this mean I can play the music from my PC without the Squeezbox??

Maximo, no they haven't fixed the issue. They still run very hot. It has nothing to do with the actual amp section but the video processing chips that generate the most heat, hence why my suggestion on placing a fan on the back right side where those video chips are located.

In my 876 model I just pass the video signal "through" without conversion and it still gets hot. I'll have to try connecting my cable box directly to my TV to see if that cools things off a bit. Right now I have a little auxiliary fan helping out.

Yes. I haven't played with an Onkyo, but the Yamahas will group songs virtually identically to WMP (artist, album, etc.) and the Yammies also recognize playlists, if memory serves.

Thanks John........

That adds an interesting new twist to the system. :scared-eek:
