Ok. So up until this morning when I was listening to Q With Jian Ghomeshi on CBC (available on PRI in some US cities), I had never ever heard of Prefab Sprout, nor it's frontman, Paddy McAloon. During the "Rant or Rave" segment of Q, they played a clip of the song "The Best Jewel Thief in the World" from their (his) latest just-released (in the UK Oct 7th, later this month over here) album Crimson/Red.

What rock was I sleeping under for a couple of decades to miss this band / guy?!!!

"Thief" is an amazingly-crafted tune - in all aspects. Lush (immediately reminded me of The Pet Shop Boys' "West End Girls.") Great lyrics (and 99% of the time I am lyric-dyslexic - ie. I don't notice a song's lyrics - rather, I just hear them musically as another instrument in the mix). Can't get it out of my head!

Can't wait to get my hands on the full album / hear more of its tunes.

Wow, I thought I was the only one. :geek:

Of course I've never heard of Prefab Sprout either, but that sort of thing is never surprising coming from me. I'll look them up...

That makes three of us, although there are a few artists (Knopfler, Steely Dan, Rickie Lee Jones, Zappa) whom have lyrics Worth Listening To. :music-listening:
I've heard of Prefab Sprout but am not familiar with their stuff, thanks Jeff!

Pick up " Two Wheels Good". You won't regret it!! Thought I was losing my mind??? Apparently the title "Steve Mcqueen " was too risque for us Canadians!!!

^-- done, that one you can get used cheap on amazon. Crimson/Red is only available as import yet, very expensive...

FYI according to wikipedia, "It was released in the United States as Two Wheels Good due to a legal conflict with the estate of American actor Steve McQueen."

I know, just didn't think they'd do separate US/Canada release, rather one for all of north america... who knows. Anyway, looking forward to hearing it.
