Question about WMP and USB Drives

When I sync music to a USB drive using Windows Media Player, I am only given the option of using WMA up to a max of 192k. That is perfectly adequate quality for use in my car, but I've into a bit of a problem. My daughter has a Blu-Ray player that can play MP3 files off a thumb drive, but cannot play WMA files. I cannot figure out any way to get WMP to use MP3 when syncing to the USB drive. It is driving me nuts. Am I missing something or should I be using different software for this? My library is mainly WMAL.

You're attempting to convert WMAL to MP3 when syncing?

If that assumption is correct, select tools, options, rip music tab, select MP3 and then the bit rate.
