Robert Eggers remake of Nosferatu

Been looking forward to this remake of the benchmark 1922 original ever since the rumors and buzz started a few years back. Great cast... great and period/genre appropriate looking cinematography even just in the sneak peek trailer... should be properly dark and scary grown up vampire flick. Wouldn't trust this remake to anyone other then Eggers (unless maybe William Friedkin was still around). Also maybe my favorite YouTube comment in a while.

We went to 9:30am showing Christmas morning the theater was packed. Did not disappoint. Eggers (fast becoming my favorite modern director) has pretty much reset the bar for the classic vampire story IMO. Masterful retelling of the traditional story somehow simultaneously felt both familiar but also brand new. Long run time flew by it was engrossing the whole way. And the vintage timeless look and feel of the movie is also super successful IMO… another Eggers staple. Probably won’t win any mainstream awards because it’s too dark and intense but it should. Skarsgard was amazing and even more unrecognizable than usual. Read some stuff from him about preparing for the role especially the vocal preparation and how he doesn’t want to ever have to dive this deep into a horror character again. I’m glad he did the performance was next level.
