I got it today (thanks again Doghart) My initial impressions are very favorable.

Setup was easy, firmware downloaded quickly, apps loaded quickly.

Blu Ray playback, loaded quickly, PQ and sound were as expected. I watched some scenes from Iron Man.

Apps, Netflix and Pandora were super easy to set up. I tried a movie from Netflix, it perfomed well, PQ was probably close to cable HD quality. I watched The Big Lebowski for a bit, I'll try another one later that is more graphic intensive, but playback was perfect (wired connection)

I suppose if I ever upgrade to 3D I'm set too....It's not bad looking either :)

I have the next mode up, the 6900, which I only got because it was listed as the only BD player at the time to support Hulu+. It's been a great player but probably no different than the 5900.

Streamed a documentary in HD from Netflix last night, PQ was superb, never a hiccup.
