Small Speaker Kool-Aid

With that kind of price, why not get a pair of Altec Lansing A7 and customize it.

I agree. I still believe the Altec Lansing A-7 series speakers can be made to be far superior to anything in the Klipsch heritage line, or any other speaker available now. The only disadvantage of the A-7s is that the bass cabinet needs to be dressed up a bit for those people who don't like battleship gray, or are pussy whipped into submission by their wives / significant others. :scared-eek:

I'm offended by your use of the vulgar term "pussy whipped". Please refrain from such a derogatory phrase in the future and consider using the more widely accepted "vaginally controlled". :teasing-tease:

I thought about this at one point.

Here's what Ashley's room would have been if he chose Altec over JBL.

I'm offended too, and this morning woke up with a yeast infection!

Ugh, why bother. BTW, those horns / drivers are intended for very large auditoriums and are way mismatched to the bass cabinet in efficiency. I've heard that combination while I worked for Altec, and it sounds terrible.

I take that back. With that kind of price, why not get a pair of Altec Lansing A7 and customize it, get a nice SET tube amp, nice push-pull amp, nice subwoofer or two, active crossover, preamp, disc / music file player and build an addition to the house for a dedicated listening room / HT. :handgestures-thumbup:

SH, talking about size & depth, could "air" also be included in this ?

Why get "air" it changes density with temperature, You could replace the air with nitrogen like in the tires of the car so the density will not change as temperature changes.

More snake oil to go please.

Air is already mostly nitrogen. :scared-eek:

Naw the TV is too large and that room is far too neat. Now if you add tons of empty boxes, wires strung everywhere and you would have to canobolize those Altecs and use the shells as a base for some 40.00 JBL studio X's sitting on top then you would be on the right track. :handgestures-thumbup:

Here is some big ass, backwoods horn speakers, may not be as sophisticated as Altec's fancy dancy, big city, horns These speakers are from the Lone Star Audio Show, so maybe they are friends of WardsWeb. If so I think he could give some tips on how to have a more finished appearance, or at least hand them a wet sponge and a bucket of soapy water.

Of course, those look like regular dynamic drivers mounted in a horn-like shell. WTF?
Isn't that what all horns are? :?:

No, AFAIK horns are usually paired with compression drivers.
