Sony BD S780: My admission into Club BluRay

After going back and forth of what Bluray player to get, with Oppo being at the top of the list. I fianlly pulled the trigger and went with a Sony BD S780 yep I cheaped out on the price and went for bells and whistles. This will be replacing Sony's first SACD player with bass mang., so old it doesn't even have an HDMI input. I guess I am not what you call an early adopter minus the Panasonic 3DTV, I bought recently.

It has coaxial and optical outputs for surround sound duties, so hopefully no PaulyT problems in that area. Sorry PaulyT, but your thread awhile back gave me a heads up, :angry-tappingfoot: so thanks for that. :eusa-clap:

Well my only "problem" was SACD via HDMI without the TV... Would love to have an Oppo but just too much $$ for that one feature - assuming it's not my pre/pro, which it may well be. I'd like to try the Oppo 93 with its dual HDMI, if I could configure one of them on the pre/pro as audio only and use that during SACD playback, maybe it'd work. But, my bloody camera has pretty much negated any chance of getting an Oppo anytime soon. :roll:

BTW, a "cheaped out YOU SUCK"! :laughing:

New plasma still not up yet, heeman. Have the stand now, several bolts and screws, but the pole is still on back order from Panasonic.
 
Troy, that's a bummer, was hoping you were well into enjoying it by this time!

Wow, you have more patience than I. I would have figured some way of rigging it up, so that I could watch it. Congratulations on the new gear.
