My friend had a new unit sent to him under warranty and he sent back the defective unit.

I hooked up the 1000ES last night and checked if it worked properly. So far no issues and the picture looked amazing. Now I'll try out some more discs today.

Are you new here? Do you not know about the picture requirement and your obligation to post such things? Get your shit together, man. I don't want to see the admin or the mods get out their ban sticks. That ain't pretty.

Okay. Pics coming soon. Sheesh. Haha

Hey @Zing and other ball Buster's. Here is the Sony 1000ES on top of the Oppo. Unless I hear differently, I plan to use the Oppo for Blu Ray still to keep the Sony on UHD duty only. But maybe switch the Oppo to a CD unit for macro purposes for my remote. Opinions?

But here's proof to my friend's kindness. I pulled up The Dark Knight Rises beginning plane takeover which I like for demo purposes. What stood out to me was the detail of Bane's hair even though it was suppose to be shaved. I could see the patch of hair on his left side and in vivid detail. When they pulled up to the plane with Littlefinger (CIA) I knew there was more detail. It was more about the armed escorts that stood out in detail whereas they were almost washed away on Blu-ray. I can't wait to watch some more familiar material. I watched a little of The Last Jedi but I haven't watched it as much as Nolan Batman movies or other demo stuff.

Why bother with separate BD and UHD disc players? I’d be willing to bet that there’s very little BD performance difference between them.

I started with the same "dual player" set up you hve but ditched the Oppo as I agree with T7, you will find your BD looks better on the Sony than the Oppo.

No need for two players.

From what I hear about Sony's track record for reliability, I say keep the Oppo so you have some way of watching Blu-Ray videos if the Sony were to take a dump.

Yeah, dump the Oppo, or at least put it away some where. My Sony does an excellent job with blurays, and don't forget the Sony is upconverting them to 4K, which the Sony does very well.

I should have clarified when I said I ditched the Oppo. It is now in my secondary system and if the Sony were to crap out I can ove it back to mu main system.
