SPL logging with REW - cool!

I just found out that REW has an SPL logging function. For example, below you'll see the 2nd set of cannon blasts towards the end of the 1812 overture. The Red and blue lines represent the Peak SPL (red) and Minimum Fast (blue) levels. The yellow is the Maximum Fast SPL. The black trace is the measured Fast SPL at the given time. These are dBZ values (z stands for zero-weight).

Here is another, this one is of the Slavonic March by Tchaikovsky (click to see as it's 1500 pixels wide):

Interesting feature, thanks for pointing it out! I assume you had to calibrate the spl somehow?

The program has a signal generator including pink noise. You simply pull out the SPL meter, turn the volume up to a certain level (i.e. 75dB, though you can set this to whatever you want) and calibrate the microphone. From then on (at the same input level) the mic + program will function as an SPL meter. It has settings for A,C, and Z weight, fast/slow, and High Pass filtering.
