I was thrilled to learn Howard Levy had re-joined Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Just saw this vid on Facebook, incredible! At the end, he plays Amazing Grace with a melody line on top, tongue-blocked chords in the middle, but then keeps a droning bass line going at the bottom, how the HELL is he doing that?!?!?!? (btw, he's using a standard diatonic harp, too) :scared-eek: :scared-eek: :scared-eek:

Watching him play, I couldn't help but to sit back and think...."Gee, I bet that guy's wife or girlfriend is one very happy lady."

But seriously, that guy is incredible. If he is the same guy that also plays piano, I remember when he was on an old concert on PBS with the Flecktones and Branford Marsalis (sp?) as a band called The Lonesome Pine Specials. Very good show. He played piano and he would use a coffee cup with his harmonica the same way Miles would use a plunger with his trumpet. Very cool effect.

He's very underrated in my opinion.

I have (had) an old VHS tape of the Flecktones, and Howard played some blindingly fast, multi-key licks, on his harp with one hand and on the piano with his other hand, perfect unison (and all on a "C" diatonic harp). The guy is scary!
