While I am not surprised after the founder died and the company was sold, it seemed to lose it's identity. Though when I read the news, I was surprised to see their latest speaker line was, Bluetooth speakers made in China. Supposedly they have a lot of overstock, so look for the Aurora line of speakers at TJ Maxx soon.

Thiel is from my home town of Lexington, KY. I could never afford Thiel speakers as a kid and a younger adult but i was proud in my days of audio appreciation to know a great speaker was made in my home town. I dreamt of a room in my home to have a 2 channel Thiel setup for music listening. With the angled back speaker it was so cool.

I was looking them up a few monbths ago and was dismayed to see the logo being used for what looked like a typical generic Bluetooth speaker and nothing else. I think Thiel we all remember went out of business long, long ago.

I regularly puke when I visit my local Fry's electronics and see the once proud Altec Lansing's only product line being cheezy Bluetooth speakers. JBL also makes them. Well, at least I knew what the hobby was like in the Good Ol' Days........

I know!!! The Altec stuff went far as to use what I consider the most formidable version of their logo, which really sucks!!!

One of my first aha moments in this hobby was when I heard pair of MSC1s. This was the first time I heard a 3D Soundstage and I will never forget it.

RIP my 1st love
