Verizon Dumps FIOS

I have been not-so-patiently waiting for FIVE FRIGGIN' YEARS for FiOS in my area!

My understanding is that they aren't dumping it per se, they are just not growing it at the same rate.

FTTP infrastructure is crazy expensive in areas where the homes/businesses are already in place.

This is why I've never expected to see FIOS in my area. Small city of 55,000 surrounded by a large mostly rural county - just isn't cost effective for a provider to make a big investment in the infrastructure required with a relatively small potential customer pool.

i'm in a town of 6000 or so. when FIOS came out they said it would be 2011 for our area... then in early 2011 they said no way... the investment was not worth the expected return... so i suspect this thought of not expanding into new areas has been in the works for awhile... to bad my son had it in his previous location and loved it... and the competion would be good..
