We've lost Walter Becker, a true musical genius

Dead at 67.

I didn't realize he wasn't touring with Steely Dan, but that explains why the names of the performances became "Donald Fagan" a few months ago. I didn't make the connection.

This guy was incredible, and perhaps the more avante garde of the two writing and producing buddies. His 1980s solo album, "12 Tracks of Whack," was one of the most bizarre experiments of pushing the envelope of arranging relatively easy to listen to songs I have ever heard. The music is catchy and accessible, but the parts each musician plays is insane beyond comprehension. I will be listening to that album today.

We'll miss him.

Damn. Obviously a man of great influence. RIP Walter.

I had read he was having health issues a few months ago. There were some tour dates that got cancelled because he was unable to play. That was the reasoning for Fagen putting together a whole new band and doing his Nightflyers tour this year. I saw Fagen & crew a few weeks ago in Chattanooga and they were phenomenal.

But not to get off subject, Becker will be missed. I haven't heard the 11 Tracks album, but did listen to Circus Money recently. It is a good album.

I saw The Dan back in Nashville in 2015 and just like with Fagen's band, they were incredible. I was really hoping to see them a few more times, but looks like that won't be the case anymore. :(

" Called in my resignation. So long, and thanks my friend......."

RIP Walter.

I know shit about music. But Reelin' in the Years and Gaucho are two albums I could take to a desert island and be quite happy.
RIP Mr.Becker
