David Gilmour - Rattle that Lock

Had a large, heavy box on my doorstep tonight. Got the bluray + CD set, but the slightly expensive box also contained two small, hardcover books (one a documentary of the recording sessions/lyrics, and the other a book of poetry, John Milton's Paradise Lost, Book II, if that means anything to anyone. Also a mini-poster, a sealed mailing envelope that I have yet to open (ooh the suspense!), and a pretty, translucent guitar pick with David's signature in gold, in a zip-lock bag. Can I BE more wealthy???
The music/recording is great (first time through), haven't yet read along on the lyrics (it's Gilmour, worth doing). Will post more when I digest more. :text-bravo:

I love me some David Gilmour. Going to look that one up, thank you Botch.
Edit: added to my wish list, the 2 disc set is to be released on Sept 18th on Amazon. :handgestures-thumbup:

The Shouting Stage -- CD

Joan Armatrading

1988 A&M Records

Never better than here May 13, 2007
By J. Moore VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase

I remember sitting under the stars at Red Rocks listening to Joan Armatrading and her stellar band, during the Shouting Stage tour. Sure we all sang along to 'Love and Affection' and joined in with 'Willow', but it was this collection that has endured in my memory. Maybe it was the romantic themes of love and loss, of a making a memory with my wife - still married after 18 years. Thankfully we never lost it at the shouting stage and I'm glad we found a stronger love that has endured. The playing by Mark Knopler and Pino Palladino as well as Joan's essential funkiness buoys this album up and even all these years later I continue to float away listening to this one. Highly recommended along with "Lovers Speak".

Come On Home -- CD

Boz Scaggs

1997 Virgin U.S. Records

Bobby Bland, Jimmy Reed, T-Bone Walker . . . Boz Scaggs!, November 4, 2001
By stranger2himself (Down Here) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Come on Home (Audio CD)

I grew up on Ray Charles, James Brown, soul, blues, country & gospel. I've been listening to and collecting music for 40 years, and have approx. 3,000 recordings. Simply put, this is one of the best, most soulful, powerful, bodaciously BAD records I've ever heard! There is not a weak cut here. Boz sounds like he's been holding this in for 30 years! The production & playing are flawless, but not too slick. The "live-in-the-studio" sound is preserved. There are no "highlights", every cut is astounding. With that in mind, "Love Letters" brings tears to my eyes, and, like the previous reviewer, I fall to my knees when Boz testifies "I've Got Your Love". His vocal chords should be enshrined; his heart and soul could provide electrical power to most of North America. If you like ANY kind of blues or R&B, you will surely dig this!

"It All Went Down the Drain"
"Ask Me 'Bout Nothin' (But the Blues)"
"Don't Cry No More"
"Found Love"
"Come On Home"
"Picture of a Broken Heart"
"Love Letters"
"I've Got Your Love"
"Early in the Morning"
"Your Good Thing (Is About to End)"
"T-Bone Shuffle"
"Sick and Tired"
"After Hours"
"Goodnight Louise"
