After the Gold Rush

Neil Young

1970 Reprise

I can remember as a 6 year old looking at that album cover and thinking "why is he carrying an old lady in a backpack?"

Yes, why is he carrying an old lady in a backpack?

Legend - The Best of -- Remastered CD

Bob Marley and the Wailers

2002 Def Jam Records

Amazon.com essential recording

Even as greatest hits packages go, this is an utter gem. Every song is inspired, in a class of its own, whether the real version of "I Shot the Sheriff," the hymnlike "No Woman, No Cry," or the sheer joy of "Jamming." Even allowing that Marley never wrote any bad material, then Legend is still the crème de la crème, the heart and soul of the Jamaican people packed into one five-inch compact disc. He was unique, and the message of this record, more than any other, is that he died far too soon. --Chris Nickson

"Is This Love" – 3:52
"No Woman, No Cry" (Live) (Vincent Ford) – 7:07
"Could You Be Loved" – 3:55
"Three Little Birds" – 3:00
"Buffalo Soldier" (Bob Marley/Noel G. "King Sporty" Williams) – 4:17
"Get Up, Stand Up" (Bob Marley/Peter Tosh) – 3:16
"Stir It Up" – 5:33
"Easy Skanking" – 2:57 (bonus track on original cassette edition/2002 reissue)
"One Love/People Get Ready" (Bob Marley/Curtis Mayfield) – 2:51
"I Shot the Sheriff" – 4:41
"Waiting in Vain" – 4:15
"Redemption Song" – 3:49
"Satisfy My Soul" – 4:32
"Exodus" – 7:36
"Jamming" – 3:31
"Punky Reggae Party" –6:52 (bonus track on original cassette edition/2002 reissue)

Same thing I listen to nearly every day while at work.

25 just set some kind of all-time record for pre-ordered CDs.

YES-Fragile.jpg

5.1 Bluray

I never paid much attention to Yes until 90210 (when Trevor Rabin took the guitar chair, and MTV played music videos); I do have Fragile on cassette, somewhere. I'm really hearing a lot of things for the first time here, and the acoustic solo Mood for a Day sounds really nice. :music-listening:

I also noticed, reading the liner notes, that if you put this disk in and do nothing, after loading the titles, it will automatically set to DTS HD Master Audio and begin playing; no need to turn on the TV to set everything up. Wish they all did that. :text-bravo:

^ From what I have read else where in the world of the web, is that the BR has slight advantages over the DVD......

I have Close To The Edge and The Yes Album on BR, and think The Yes Album was done a bit better, however I am not sure if I want to spend the $$ on Fragile unless someone really raves about it!

The Bluray also has the 2002 DVD-A mixes on it, I'm just clicking on it now. It also has:
the original stereo mix
alternate takes
2015 instrumental mix
vinyl transfers
and add'l material

EDIT:
WOW. Quite a difference. The DVD mixes are a bit more compressed, vocals a bit louder, organs much lower, and drenched in reverb. Wilson's mix is drier, and more "present".
And this is cool: you can use the "color" buttons on the remote to switch between LPCM stereo, DTS HD Master Audio, and LPCM Surround, and it changes while keeping its place in the song. Sadly you can't swap between the Bluray and 2002 DVD-A mixes that way, it re-starts from the top of the song list. Still, you can get a good idea of the differences just doing that.
Which do I prefer? Couldn't tell you at this point, and if I had the DVD-A already don't know that'd be worth the extra coin for the Bluray. However, this is no-brainer demo material at the next GTG!
