Width/Height Speakers

Been a little while since receivers started coming with these extra amp channels. Anyone had an opportunity to hear what they sound like?

I've been curious, but at the same time I don't think I would even go that route. That's just too many speakers to put in a room, especially mine.

IMO, I think you would have to have pretty tall ceilings (like a 12 footer) to get any benefit from height surrounds, sort of like having more depth in a room for getting better performance from the back surrounds in a 7.1 setup.

It seems like a sales gimmick to me, at least until theres some recordings supporting it. A properly set up 5.1 gives the impression of height and width anyway.
