I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
Releasing tracks on every full moon!!?? I like when he was asked by the interviewer if the two producers (I think he was talking about producers) were free to play with the structure? His answer " Ah..no" and then a laugh!! He's Peter Gabriel and they are his songs and nobody is going to...
I think I get what you are saying....BUT I am not sure it answers my question!!
Simply put...or put another way. Do I need to know how much or how little voltage is going to my amps from the preouts in either a receiver or a preprocessor? Like is 1 volt from a preout enough? Is 6 volts too much...
In my search for a replacement for my Integra DHC 40.1 I have gone down the rabbit hole of output voltages. What a processor can put out versus what an AV receiver can put out. A few questions:
What is worse..putting out too much voltage to an amp or too little voltage?
Am I trying to match...
That makes perfect sense. Need to look at Dolby page. I assume then that the surrounds need to come down in height? Mine are currently a couple feet above the listening position.
I have a drop ceiling so I suppose it would be easy enough to install in ceiling speakers for the height/atmos...
As stated previously, not up on latest codecs , speaker placement etc. Are atmos (height) channels a gimmick or something I need to seriously consider while shopping for a new prepro/AVR??
BUMP
Just finished reading this thread...which I apparently replied to and don't remember doing so!!!?? Sigh!!
Just so I am clear, both Pauly and Heeman are running the Marantz Cinema 70s 7.2?? I ask because this is one of the AVR's I may purchase to replace my Integra. However it only has...
So I slipped the Denon 1312 from my son's room into the rack and wired it up and it seems to be working...for 5.1 only. I can't seem to get a test tone out of the sub so I am not sure what is happening there. Will fiddle some more. For my family get together it will be fine. In the meantime...
Speaking of projectors...truth be told(before my prepro apparently crapped out) I was thinking that my next upgrade in the HT would be a 4k projector. Sigh.
That being said...it seems I really have no idea what the latest technologies actually are!! I have heard of Dolby Atmos. What else is there on the audio processing front?
I have bought used speakers..they still speak. I have bought used amps...they still amplify. Buying a used avr or prepro seems like you are paying for old technology? I can't seem to get by that!!!
I've seen that one!! Intriguing. Didn't you used to own an Anthem?
Edit: A little research tells me that the AVM 60 is from 2017. I guess I worry about caps drying out and that sort of thing. I'm conflicted cause it seems like a nice prepro for a decent price and the guy is an hour from my house.
AVR's with 7.1 preouts are scarce as hen's teeth. My first two receivers were both Marantz which I was very pleased with. I saw the Marantz Cinema 70s can turn off circuitry and has enough preouts to fit the bill. Just kind of kills me to pay almost 2k CAD for a receiver..and I won't even be...
