Heeman's New DIY MTM Project

How do they compare to the Dynaudios?
Spaciousness.

Openness.

Large Soundstage.

Extreme detail.

They are far from tuned yet. I set up basic balance and levels. I spent a couple of hours with them. I am thrilled.

The C1's are a wonderful speaker, especially when paired with the ScanSpeak Woofers.

Something just occurred to me, what are your plans for the center channel? Are you removing that completely and letting L/R handle all of the front stage?

I will be building a somewhat of a matching center in the near future.

I just spent nearly two hours with our friend, Heeman, helping him measure and tune his crossovers, and he was a total delight to work with. I have rarely encountered someone who immediately understood what I was suggesting they do and actually execute on both changing settings and making new measurements, some pretty extreme, in a very timely manner.

Good job, man! I cannot wait to hear these speakers.

Thank you for the help today and over the last decade! You are a great teacher and have been able to give me the insight in to a new world of audio.

My passion for this hobby and your knowledge (and patience) has got me to a point that I didn't know existed in audio.

The journey has now entered a new chapter........

Last week I traveled to Alabama and spent a solid 9 days with our friend Keith enjoying his wife's abundant hosting and Keith's great listening room.

We spent dozens of hours listening to the new loudspeakers, fine adjusting the placement in the room, tuning the crossovers to achieve ideal performance in both objective and subjective terms, and enjoying some great music, concerts and movies.

When I felt we'd tweaking things about as far as we could and achieved stunning sound, we just enjoyed them.

As I mentioned to Keith repeatedly, once the system is at this level of performance, all we can do is enjoy the music and movies. Anything we are hear is the product of the recording, not the gear or room.

Stunning. Few systems I have ever heard in my life come close to what Keith has accomplished. I am impressed in the leap of faith he took and the great work he did is building everything to spec.

Here's a good summary of Heeman's speakers' frequency response at the listening position.
