I've just upgraded the forum software to Xenforo 2.0. Please let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm still working on installing styles... coming soon.
Ok, time to prewire. I am goingto use the top of the coat closetin the downstairs hallway as my main tech closet. This is where cable internet will run to, also the fireplace tv pvc chase will run here, the wireless router will be here and maybe the htpc.
The other location for gear will be...
So I have not been in the RF remote game for while.
Is this the thing right now?
My gear will be in the back of the living room in a closet. So I need rf.
I already have a wired IR repeater that I may be able to run to the back of the room. But I will need to run extra cable. That is why...
Point taken, which is why it was never above the fireplace at our old home. However, our new living room is 20 feet long so the angle of departure is lessoned quite a bit.
After some thinking, if have another option to consider.
If I get this unit

Thinking about this unit, fo my downstairs closet. Really don't need much more than that.

Good price for what I need. Which is volume control, OSD, and HDMI Switching. You can't beat it!
It even has outputs for 2 surrounds backs, that...

So I need to make a decision between floor standers and inwall speakers flanking my fireplace. This is just a tv support system and not meant for critical listening.
Thoughts?
You can appreciate this: I plan on buying this now and working with the builder to recess it into the fireplace chase so that when I push it in it will be completely flush. Wires and all.
I want to install a wall mount above my fireplace that extends and swivels from right to left. The idea is that I can turn my tv to the kitchen while cooking etc, if I am unhappy with the angle. I was think about something like this.

Forgive my ignorance. But I am assuming that means that less bass energy will escape the room because it is being trapped in that soffitt or that it will help me tame standing waves, etc...increasing the quality of the bass.
It is hard to say exactly what this room will be. We have four rooms up stairs. Three bedrooms and a bonus, 1 small bedroom, one decent sized bedroom and on very large bedroom. We have two options:
Option 1: Put my son in the msallest bedroom, the two girls in the decent sized bedroom and...
Ok, here is option 1
Option 2
Option 3
Like all three ideas.
Option 1: Gives more acoustic challange to the experience but make the most of the room space. There can be a fooseball table behind the couch, even a bar built in the bump out in the BL of the room. Also and option, I can...
