Been on the hunt for another pair of 650's for use at my office and finally took the plunge. J&R has them on sale with free shipping for $356, figured it was gonna be hard to beat that deal.
Now to see how well they stack up against my three year old 650's!! :banana-rock:
I don't know if it's a fact that they changed the sound sig but there was talk. It was too long ago to remember much about it. I did use my Aphex 204 to add lower treble overall.
I never read anything about a sound change, but I will be able to A/B the new ones with my almost five year old ones so I will let ya all know what I think after I get em!

Also a mod that I did was to remove the small foam behind the driver. There is foam in front of the driver also. It's worth experimenting with.
Here's a link that describes the foam mod. I did a variation on the foam in the front. I call it the nickel mod, because I used a nickel coin to create a hole in the foam but did not remove the entire piece like the link shows.
After just a quick A/B it seems as though Senn has indeed changed something.......but IMO for the better. They are still silky smooth with great bass but it seems as though the new 650's are a tad "faster" if that makes sense?
The overall sound is pretty much the same besides that, so I will give the new set some break in time and do a better review later this week.
I would love to hear them.. I've owned Senn's HD600 for a number of years and really love. When I heard the Senn HD 650 is was so familiar I couldn't really tell the difference.
BTW,
Rope,
The 595 are basically the HD600 for less with a bit less "finish" (I'm sure I didn't need to tell you that).
