Deadwood, worth it?

War Never Changes
Famous
so, you know i love westerns,

i was always wondering about deadwood, and never thought of buying into it.

Worth the rental? how is it?

whats the basis?

I loved it Deadwood SD during a gold rush. Lots of violence and lots and lots of foul language.

If you haven't seen it definitely worth renting. Just make sure no kids are around when you watch it.

You won't be disappointed, guaranteed.

The setting is a small lawless mining town (Deadwood) in South Dakota. The film is about the inner workings of said town, and the process of law moving in, and finally gaining statehood.

If you like Timothly Olyphant and Ian McShane, thugs and murderers westen style, this one's for you.

YES!

I own every episode and recommend it to everyone I know. :text-bravo:

But the language is terrible and very real as the Director and Producers made sure everything was "how it really was" back in Deadwood.

Get it!

It's a favorite, I wish there was an actual final season. I like Timothy Olyphant, his show Justified on FX is really good too. Kinda plays the same guy in the present with a bit more personality.

Great point B, I am still waiting for the 4th season.

It really wasn't fair for it to end like that. I warn people who borrow the set, that there was supposed to be a 4th season, so they left a HUGE cliffhanger and then the show was canceled by HBO! So, nothing was wrapped up nicely!

I've been told that there are forums dedicated to "What the 4th season would have been"!

They pulled the same with Carnivale.. one was supposed to end with a movie finalle. Very disappointed the ball got dropped.

I made an attempt to count the number of times fuck was used in Deadwood dialog, I lost count. :angry-banghead:

Wonder if there is a YouTube of all the f bombs like that big lebowski one.

I've only seen the first two episodes, but what I saw, I loved it. There's been other stuff on the DVR, on DVDs, etc. that I have been watching so I haven't made an effort to catch up with this series. I did not know about the show being cut before a finale was made. That really sucks. Maybe they can do a movie that will wrap up the series like with Firefly and Serenity.

Wish I could stream it on Netflix. There's been several shows I was hoping to stream but they're (like Deadwood) all DVD only.

i guess this is where the problem is.

i dont really like tim elephant. :D

i saw him in 'live free and die hard' i didnt really like the appearance he had, and how it er... affected the movie itself.

kinda like how some people cant handle mark hammond in NCIS, where despite the greatness of the show, they cant get to remove his 'image' so to speak....

read thru this, and there isnt a proper ending for this series? no proper burial!?!?

anyways, got to watch this last night, episode one and two...

not bad. i havent finished the second one, but yeah, its nice.

i did tho, notice the f bomb was droppin like hell.

i like the doctor, the girl who sidekicks hickok, and... er...

at least its not like spartacus, whos first episode looked like a soft porn.

Calamity Jane is a kick in the pants. I really enjoyed her character and she gets better as the series continues.

The whole series gets better as it goes along.

Keep us posted Jomari,

That's the one, and be careful, she likes to drink and dosen't take any shit off of anyone. Oh, and don't even think bad things about Wild Bill while she is around, she'll kick your ass!

It is a great series. :eusa-clap:

Maybe I should watch it again!

im on disc four, season 1.

im hooked.

my mouths all foul and durdy after this one.

forgot to mention, timothy olyphant walks ONE way. one goddamn way.

Not too far off topic but, I watch a show on Discovery called Ghost Lab which follows ghost hunting group Everyday Paranormal, who's based in San Antonie, TX. Well, one of the episodes I watched today was where they went to investigate the Fairmount Hotel and Wild Bill Bar in Deadwood, SD. Wild Bill was only (according to the show) in Deadwood for three weeks when he got shot during a card game.

The phrase "dead man's hand" came to mean the hand that Wild Bill was holding when he got shot, which was 2 pairs (2 Aces and 2 eights). There has always been speculation on what was the kicker card, or 5th card, in Wild Bill's hand. That question was asked during EP's investigation and they picked up an EVP that said "9 Diamond".

Another question asked was if Wild Bill had any last words to say before he was shot. They caught a voice on tape saying "tell my wife, I love her".

Wild Bill had only been married for a few months when he died.

so i saw calamity jane 'leave' deadwood in the first season,

Does this mean she aint coming back?

Personally, shes one of the reasons why i watched the show.

I still like it, but i liked her character the most.
