Game of Thrones

War Never Changes
Famous
First off, i havent read the books.

Second, i still have to watch Tinker tailor soon.

Now thats off my chest, i got to watch Game of thrones last night, thanks to best buy.

for those who are interested, you can have a demo of the first episode "winter is coming" on blu-ray and dvd if you purchase any hbo series.

I asked the guy at the counter if i can just buy it for a penny (which was the price on the media), he said sure.

I was lucky to get the last blu-ray, and man, the video quality was phoenomenal. 1:85 aspect ratio, man i miss seeing my tv screen 'light up' so to speak.

Anyways, very interesting storyline, reminded me of skyrim, but essentially, i love it. Bottom line is, i am anticipating to get this on blu-ray, but will see what your thoughts are initially.

My initial reaction to Spartacus was after watching the first episode, i felt .... dirty. its soft porn. it felt like it. and looked like it. its soft porn. i wanted more fights, more gladiators!

anyways, i hope this doesnt turn out that way. the premise looks promising.

what say you??

It, along with Boardwalk Empire, is arguably the best show on TV. Both are on par with each other in all respects, I think it would depend on your preference on genre to decide the best one...of course this is my opinion.

Anyway, it's worth it, but I will warn you not to get emotionally attached to the characters.

Thanks B,

i plan to get Game of thrones...

i'll have to be honest tho, im not as interested in Boardwalk as much, from what ive heard, its about the liquor ban isnt it? er... its on the tip of my tongue. Prohibition!

Anyways, im more of a swordsman.

Thanks again buddy.

I am a HUGE fan of the show and am now reading the books. In case anyone is wondering, the first season is incredibly faithful to the first book. The only difference between the two is that the book obviously offers a little more detail here and there. Fantastic stuff. I'm definitely going to score a copy on Blu-Ray and am really looking forward to season two in April.

Haywood... er... is there going to be more soft porn in this one like spartacus? if so, then er... will reconsider. nothing ruins a great action movie more than soft porn.

Oh, i pointed out ot the GF the 'barbarian' is the new conan the barbarian guy - same guy from farscape i think or Stargate. i HATE that guy, she likes him. Thats why i hate that guy.

im asian not samoan.

Jomari, why do you keep calling Spartacus soft porn. I prefer Gladiator with sexy time! Keep it up, and you are going to lose your man card!

Boardwalk Empire is EXCELLENT! Added HBO just for that show.

Need to see Game of Thrones as I've heard it was really good!

hehehe. i only saw one scene with swords. others were men poking women with their swords.

on a serious note tho huey, about boardwarlk, is it, does it feel like deadwood in a way?

I've only seen bits and pieces of Deadwood, but I wouldn't say so. It is more like The Sopranos, although they are both their own creature. BE is based on a true story, and I think they were at least trying to remain true to it, at least in the first season.

There are a few steamy scenes here and there. Not many. At least one of them is EXTREMELY important to the plot.

thank you haywood.

i guess i understand the importance of certain scenes, and how it should affect or determine the output of the movie, or the flow of how everything works on, but not enough to consider as the main joy of watching a movie.

i guess what im a little adamant about (as huey has noticed earlier), is that at times, its needed. but for f*cks sake, i dont want it every flippin episode.

oh, which reminds me, any other movies or series similar to game of thrones i can best my eyes upon?

im watching kingdom of heaven, and it doesnt feel the same so to speak.

thanks again haywood.

for those interested,

Entertainment weekly magazine has the cast members on the front page. spread articles pretty good.

i 'borrowed' it from a colleague for a quick read. it also contains some spoilers, corresponding houses et al on a one page sheet.

just a heads up.

I rented the first 3 discs (6 episodes) yesterday for 5 days so I will be watching GOT this weekend.

I loved season one so much that I bought it on DVD and have the book on my Nook. They should have released the DVD sooner.

Now I have to shelve it since season two has started (It's going on the DVR).

But, one must keep up. A great show.

"Soft Porn" LOL, Jomari.

We got hooked F A S T, the wife and I wound up watching the entire season in 3 nights...And HBO got a subscription out of us too, 2 episodes into season 2 and enjoying every minute.

I've been trying to rent it with no luck. Netflix couldn't help me with this one, so I finally just bought the set. We have enjoyed it very much. I'm also well into the second book.

i cant read so i didnt buy the books. :eek:bscene-birdiedoublered:

on a serious note, i guess thats just me - i just dont have ANY time on my hands to do so.

but i do wish i got HBO when we got the new cable...

anyways, my copy of game of thrones is still proudly unopened in my office.

i will watch it again sometime soon. im glad we have some members here enjoying the series.

and yes, it doesnt have as much soft porn as spartacock did.

Caught up on the first season thanks to HBO GO.

Wife and I are hooked, still catching up, only 1 episode behind right now.

This and Breaking Bad are my two favorite shows currently.

D

I am currently working my way thru book five (A Dance of Dragons) and enjoying Season Two.

Well I finished watching season one via rental disc - did I like it?

I just got done adding HBO to my DTV programming for the sole purpose of watching season 2.

Got to schedule recording of repeats of the first three episodes.
