How do you buy your music now?

I still buy CD's..............then rip them on Windows Media Player; FLAC format.

I rip everything to WMA, sometimes lossless, sometimes variable bitrate (VBR), with DRM turned off. These days nearly all of my playback devices and software can play that format. My music management software knows to convert the format for devices which do not support WMA lossless or VBR. So I can listen to my music just about everywhere.

I listen to music ALL the friggin' time - it is a necessary part of my life of I would go crazy pretty fast. So, I don't rely on streaming of my own library, yet. I store as much music as I can on my phone, tablets, and PCs so I always have my library with me as I travel around the world. There is no point in making streaming work for me at this time as I have it with me. Once I find a way to always be connected to the internet, even in tunnels, on subways, and out in the mountains or desert, then I will learn how to stream my music.

Does Windows Media now support flac? I haven't used it in awhile, but they didn't use to support it.

Like some on here, either Amazon for the instant ability to download until the CD gets here, or used CD's at the local Salvation Army.

I buy my music from Amazon. I have a music list I go through when I can't decide what to get next. I rip all my music to Flac for my squeezeboxes and MP3 for my Jeep and phone. If the album from Amazon are auto-rip, I download the MP3s. I have a back up that's on a Western Digital Cloud drive, so I can access that anywhere from my phone. I need to update that drive. I keep all my discs on a CD wall unit too.

Yes sir, not sure what version added it, but it is there now at least for 6 months or so, so I have been using it instead of WMA Lossless.

I keep my FLAC, MP3, AAC and iTunes music in separate folder structures and use my media server to combine them into a single library. The entire thing is backed up to Amazon Drive and most of it is also synced to Google Play Music.

To answer the question as precisely as possible:

1. I buy (mostly) used CDs from Amazon (.ca, .com, .uk) and record stores (either here in Ottawa or whenever I travel);

2. I always buy copies of new CDs from the merch table whenever I (pay to) attend small venue live music performances;

3. There are dozens of music stations included with my paid cablevision package, so technically that is another way that I buy music;

4. "CDs" can sometimes also be other physical media that I buy, like DVD-A, SACD, and Blu-ray Audio; never cassettes, 8-tracks, or vinyl.

Did not know that. Computer has been down for a week, I'll have to check it out when I get it fixed.
