Let's play name that tune, by lyrics!!

A really good cover of this song by The Pretenders just came on Pandora so figured I'd post it:

I don't care if it hurts
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul

^^ I'll let some others try first....Pauly you were supposed to be giving this group a listen.

Ah, but I never remember lyrics... ;)

I'm with PaulyT. I find this game extremely difficult. I am not a lyrics person. Give me the melody ala "Name that tune" and I will do much better. Lyrics, not so much!!

Maybe if the lyrics were from a song that more of us know, it might make it a bit easier. Unless, I'm way off, there are probably only 5 or 6 people on the forum that could recognize Radiohead lyrics.

Let's try this:

Look in the mirror and tell me
Just what you see
What have the years of your life
Taught you to be

Devil and the Deep Blue Sea behind me,
Vanish in the air, you'll never find me,
I will turn your face to alabaster,
When you find your servant, is your Master....

(love that song!)

Police Wrapped around your Finger

I think this is one that if you are not a fan of the group and are just a casual listener, you don' stand a chance of getting the lyrics. By this I mean the game not the last song posted by Botch. Which I hope I guessed correctly.

Here's one.

The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
But there's no place left to hide

You were correct, as am I: crowd chants "Brooooooooooooo" :D

Sometimes, sometimes not. There's a lot of bands I'm a HUGE fan of, that I don't have a clue of what the lyrics are (ToP, Level 42, Chicago, Toto, Radiohead, the list goes on) and other bands that I read along with the lyrics as I'm listening just because they're so good (Mark Knopfler, the Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Franks, Sting, this list goes on too), and there are bands whom I don't follow whose lyrics stick like glue (especially true when I played in country bands for many years). I swear the key to a country hit is the title/main line of the Chorus; you write something memorable there and you gotz a hit!
She got the gold mine, I got the shaft!
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
All my Ex's live in Texas.
There's a tear in my beer.
This list goes on forever.... :happy-smileygiantred:

Well hell I picked one that I thought be easy and not too obscure and no one even tried to guess mine... :angry-tappingfoot:

BTW I had the Wrapped Around Your Finger one but mcad had already gotten it.

You're correct with the last one I posted: Creep by Radiohead. I'm thinking Ozzy Osbourne for the one you posted or a similar type group.

Edit: Okay, I looked it up and yeah, I was on-track with Ozzy. I didn't realize they had a song named Black Sabbath as well.

"High time we made a stand and shook up the views of the common man
And the lovetrain rides from coast to coast
D.j.s the man we love the most
Could you be, could you be squeaky clean
And smash any hope of democracry ?
As the headline says you're free to choose
There's egg on your face and mud on your shoes
One of these days they're gonna call it the blues"

I cheated and looked it up. Would have had no clue. I have the album and LOVE that song. For shame!!!
Of course once I see the lyrics and hum the melody then "Bob's your uncle" , I have the eureka moment.
