New TV

Yes.
I have used ViewHD 3x1 switches ($40 at Amazon) and 4x2 matrix switches ($60 at Amazon) for several installations for work. They handle UHD and lossless audio and have SPDIF outputs too.
Thanks Towen. If it does come to that, I guess I should hook up a spare HDMI cable, one that isn't connected to anything, to see if I still have the audio dropout. It could be just having something plugged in there could cause the issue, but at least I know there is an option if all else fails.

And if all else fails, I have basically a walkway behind the tv, so when I want to watch a movie, it's pretty easy to just walk back there and unplug the HDMI cable. Hooking it back up is slightly tougher as the Vizio has odd inputs in that they are tucked up in there and plugging them in is difficult at times.

So yeah, I had already found that setting on the player and had turned it off. I tried turning every CEC control I could find On and off, and didn't make a difference. I did get audio for about 2 seconds when I tried playing a Youtube video, but could not repeat it. I hadn't thought about the Darbee, which is in the middle of the HDMI that comes from the receiver to the tv, that might be able to be turned off and kill the signal, but at least with the settings on the remote this morning, it doesn't truly turn off. There might be another setting on the darbee, didn't have time to play around with it this morning.

Can you post some links? My personal experience with external switches has been really poor, mostly due to HDCP handshake issues. If there are some good switches out there that do not cost a fortune, that is a GREAT find and it would be really cool if you could share. Do you know if these switches support at least HDMI 2.0a? A lot of 4K switches cannot handle HDR.

CEC seems to be guilty until proven innocent. Just for balance I have a good CEC story...
I've always used my receiver as a source switch like everyone else. I got my Vizio 4K and ofcourse wanted a 4K source so I got Roku Premier+. Since my receiver isn't 4K capable I plugged the Roku directly into the TV's HDMI 1 input and used the TVs optical output to the receiver's input labeled TV. I connected the receiver to HDMI 2 (for watching my Uverse and BDs) and made no changes to the TV or receiver settings.
To my total surprise when I switched to the TV input for the HDMI 1 the receiver automatically switched to the TV input for sound. Likewise when I changed the TV input to HDMI 2 the receiver automatically switched back to the Uverse input. And if I turned on the BD player the receiver automatically switched to the BD input. I thought that was cool.

These particular switches are only HDMI v1.4 so no HDR.

Any body know what an ADI repeater is? I've seen something like HDMI4 has been switched to ADI repeater, or something like that, and then last night when enabling CEC on everything, one of the devices listed was ADI repeater. I'm thinking it is calling my receiver the ADI repeater, but I have no clue why. The other two devices that show up are the Roku and the Sony player.

Late to the party - can you recap what the problem is? Also, are your HDMI cables Premium Certified?

I'm guessing they are not premium certified, just standard cables picked up at Wally World.

Problem is, my receiver won't pass a 4K signal, so in order to get lossless sound and 4K picture, I have to have player with two HDMI outputs, one to the tv for video, and one to the receiver for sound. All my other stuff, is plugged into the receiver so that the receiver can do the HDMI switching. When I have just the HDMI from the UHD player plugged into the tv, as well as the other HDMI cable from the player into the receiver for sound, everything works fine. But as soon as I plug the HDMI from the receiver into the tv, it kills the sound on the player. Everything that's connected to the receiver plays fine though. Thinking it must be some CEC control that's causing maybe a handshake issue, but I've tried turning CEC off on everything, but it doesn't make a difference. I've also tried switching the HDMI to different inputs on the tv and no change either.

My niece and her boyfriend were over for Thanksgiving, which was right after my dlp died, and I told them if they wanted it, they could have it. Anybody want to guess what the problem was? The thing I thought it couldn't be, because I had just replaced it two months prior, but it turned out to be just a blown bulb, a $25 fix. I'm happy for them that it was such a cheap fix, but I would have fixed it for that in a heartbeat and continued to use it until it died. Still happy with the upgrades, but it was something I was just felt the need to do until I thought the tv was not worth repairing.

Yeah. Their showroom has gone downhill since they moved and I think 90% or more of their business is installation and service. The only speakers they had on hand were from Golden Ear and based on the demo I got today I wouldn’t trust the salesman’s hearing ability (he told me the surrounds and sub were off but they weren’t) but I’ve done business with them before and they stand behind what they sell.
They use to be at Beltway and I-10 then moved to Richmond and Wesleyan now well down 59 . I haven't been in there in years.

So as most know, my wife works for Walmart, and when they started making them work Thanksgiving a few years back, as a reward for working, they get a one time shopping trip where everything is discounted 25%, and today is the day for the shopping trip. I always dread it, wife tends to go overboard, but I got thinking last night I could get the 75 inch Samsung that Walmart started carrying after our shopping trip last year. Not that there is anything wrong with my Vizio, I'm genuinely happy with it, but the Samsung is 5 inches bigger, and you know 5 inches is 5 inches.

So I stop at Walmart before work, hadn't really been thinking of tv's so hadn't paid attention to what they were carrying, but they also now carry a 75 inch Samsung Qled tv. And it looks gorgeous. So doing the math, I could get the tv for just a little over $2000 plus tax. I really don't know what to do. I'll probably just keep the Vizio, but I'm really struggling with this. I know, first world problem and what not.

The struggle is real my friend. I go through the same shit regularly. "I don't need it but it is cool". Hence the new pair of Oakleys sitting on my desk that got delivered yesterday.

I got them for a really good deal, if you can ever consider Monster Cable and Oakleys to be a good deal, LMAO.

I had a really good run in Vegas one year, and treated myself to a very nice pair of Oakley's from the store in the casino. I'm sure I way overpaid, but because they were so expensive, I made sure to take care of them and probably got about 10 years out of them, Monster Cables on the other hand, I couldn't win enough money in Vegas to buy those. lol

@Huey ... do it ... do it ... DO IT!!!
I was waiting for someone to say that. This will probably be one of the things that I decide while I'm in the store. I am perfectly happy with the vizio, but that qled looks so damn sexy.
