... And if his goal is to impress people with his technical prowess, and therefore work his way up through the ladder of "rock gods" - then yeah he succeeded and more power to him. I guess this was the scene at the time and what he was going for.
I am a total musical snob and, in my completely subjective opinion, he wasn't furthering things in that respect. But that's ok, I get (I think) what he and others like him were doing, and they succeeded. Good for them.
