Roku 4

Alright, I signed up for SlingTV & installed their channel on my Roku 4 but SlingTV freezes/ bufferes about every 20 minutes (have a case # with SlingTV tech support).
But good news, installed WatchESPN on the Roku 4 & used my credentials with SlingTV as a provider and now I have WatchESPN ! Great PQ, been watching Auburn vs Memphis bowl game with no issues.
Might just keep SlingTV after all. WatchESPN has alot of feeds/programs.

Just a FYI about 4K and HDCP2.2 :
http://www.cnet.com/news/hdcp-2-2-what- ... d-to-know/

And more info about everything has to be HDMI v2.0 & have HDCP 2.2 to get 4K from Roku :

This is why my 2014 SR5009 won't pass through 4K (even though its specs say if can do 4K/60hz). It has all v2.0 HDMI but since they applied the new copy protection on 4k material sometime this year I'm out of luck.

It gets even worse, because you need HDMI 2.0a in order to get HDR compatibility. That's one of the reasons why I am going to replace my display soonish, but wait another year to upgrade my AVR (that and I want a Marantz SR-7010 and my budget cannot begin to absorb that and a new display in the same year).

Yeah, the HDR is still all up in the air right now. They say the Roku 4 will feed HDR with a firmware update and I think Samsung SUHD's can be updated with firmware, but who knows.
I'm just waiting on 2016 when they have switches/splitters because I don't want to buy another receiver right now ( mine is only a year old).

The Samsung SUHD sets and some of the Sony XBR sets are firmware upgradable. UHD is not that up in the air. The standards are being made public at CES next week and the manufacturers will be introducing their new 2016 models that incorporate them. This is one of the reasons I have not purchased a set yet. I want to see what is coming out at what price point, as well as what happens to the prices of the 2015 models.

Haywood, accessories4less has a SR7010 9.2 Atmos for $1650, refurbed, regular $2200. It can handle 4K Ultra HD 60hz 4:4:4 Pure Color,HDMI 2.0a, & HDCP 2.2, HDR, Audyssey MultiEQ XT32, etc
I bought my SR5009 refurbed from them, couldn't wait any longer.

If I were not getting ready to potentially drop two years of upgrade budget on a new TV, that is the receiver I would buy.
