Short on speaker wire, long on cat 5

Ok. But just one more thing. And this goes back to the whole landfill thing. I just check out my Cat 5 and it turned out to be Cat 6 @ 4 x 23 guage. When I stripped it it was at least as thick as the 16 guage I have. So unless you tell me that i'm fucking retarded for doing so, I am going to use the Cat 6.

Use the cat6. It is already paid for. Just use two runs of wire per speaker, that's 8 x 23awg strands per connection, 16 per speaker.

Like I mentioned before, as long as the gauge is adequate, its not going to hurt anything. However, there is no advantage in using it. The reactances, while applicable to the high frequencies of ethernet signals are simply insignificant at impedances and frequencies in the audio band.

Sweet. I am going to pull four lengths of cat-6 two yellows and two blues one set each for my surround sides. I have enough 16 guage speaker wire for my surorund backs.
