But you put that gawd awful caveat of "$1,500 to $5,000 per pair" in your request which ruins any hope of getting the absolute best.

So, in that price range I like:
Dynaudio (with a big ass amplifier)
Focal
Klipsch Heritage (La Scala?)
Used & reconditioned Altec VOTT with active crossovers / EQ
Genelec
Leitch
