Is a switched outlet powered by the 12v connection? I have power trips with a switch but they plug into the wall and the switch turns them off and on.

I've had similar experiences, Paul. Don't know which I prefer because they are so different. The sub definitely adds a visceral punch that I don't get with my headphones. My Senn 650s just don't come close to what I get and feel with my SVS PB13, even with the Bifrost and Lyr in the chain...

So far the Yamaha is doing very well. I think the room correction works better than the Onkyo.

Unfortunately, the sounds continued with my Onkyo. I just replaced it with a new Yamaha RX-V525 Receiver. So far it seems to be doing a great job. hummerdude

Yes, watching live TV. The sound was so loud that I am concerned that it may have blown a speaker or could blow a speaker. It was so loud we thought a tree may have fallen outside. Maybe I will try different sources with headphones.

I'm getting a strange result when I set "down-mix" on my 980H to 7.1. My Oppo is connected to my Onkyo by HDMI on my 7.1 system. I can stream DSD to my Onkyo for decoding fine with down-mix set to either 5.1 or 7.1. The strange thing is that on stereo recordings, my Onkyo displays...

The HeadFi site can definitely be amusing at times. I feel very lucky to have stumbled across this group on the other site or I might I might be wasting a lot of time thinking about cords and fuses and such.
