FLINT: Re-Living his Glory days?

If the drums sound really good in the room, the Glyn Johns method can be really interesting and engaging. However, to be successful with it you really need an isolated control room to monitor the sound while a tech moves the mics around until it is perfect. The way I record I don't have that luxury, so I just mic the heck out of the kit to capture everything. Then I have to mix it all together in a way which sounds like the listener is in the room listening. It is easier to setup (if you have all the gear), but it takes much longer to mix and adjust.
