By the way, everyone is invited to come hear us on August 17th at the Lucky Lounge in Austin.
If I go, I'd wanna do it right. I'd want seats just in front of the sound man, backstage passes, photo ops, meet-and-greet, dinner with the band, autographed memorabilia and a certified letter stating we're all BFFs...you know, like what Pauly has with Joe.

Usually those packages cost upwards of $1,000 per person. So, if you can pay me $1,000 for you and $1,000 for the missus, I will arrange all of that for you. I will even help you book a room at the legendary five-star Four Seasons in Austin and book you into the top rated Lake Austin Spa and Resort for a day.

Make it a proper Austin experience!
Is a personal check acceptable?

Yeah Zing there's a definite Ozzy vibe there, I like it!

I Won't Follow
I feel the drum line is "up-beat" but I never get that from the vocal. I want a single up beat vocal run in it.
It's a bit old school as it runs too long, like a minute too long.

Hole in My Soul
This one I definitely like the dubbed voice effect. It matches the song perfectly.
I think this is dragged out a bit in a number of spots and could be a lot shorter as well. At least if you want a popular song that is. It doesn't even start a vocal for 52 seconds and that's going to lose some peoples attention.
Again, I feel this needs a "kick ass" vocal outlet in it somewhere. The drum line and guitar rock but the vocal doesn't ever seam to catch up. A good example is around 2:50 in the song it feels like a build up but at 3:10 it ends up in a guitar solo.... feels like it's almost starting over and didn't complete the kick ass drum build up.
Flint, you kick ass on the drums, really mixing it up

Hi Flint!

I finally listened to both of your songs!

I definitely agree with Zing & Pauly and the Ozzy sound from Hole In My Soul. As far as the vocal sounds from I Won't Follow, for me it had a Dishwalla vibe. I find a lot of people don't care for them, but I luv their music!
I follow Razz's take on Hole In My Soul, it was drawn out a bit.

Overall, I enjoyed them. Awesome drum lines! Keep up the good work!!!! :handgestures-thumbup:

Foosman (my band) is knee deep in prepping for a performance on August 17th. We put in three two hour practices a week, which is the minimum for a real band (I'd prefer 5 practices a week). My fingers are getting solid callouses and my feet are not as sore after each two hour practice. Which is good. That means I may build up the stamina I need to make it through a 90 minute set without having a heart attack. I didn't have to worry about heart attacks when I was playing 20 years ago, I am so old now.

So, to make up for the lack of band practices I'll need to get ready, I put in about 90 minute of practice without the band every day we are not playing as a group. I do the same exercises and routines I've done since I was 16 years old plus a couple of things I've picked up which help with the drumming I am doing in this band. It is driving my wife nuts.

This is hard work, but I hope it pays off with a killer show.

Excellent. You gotta have someone videotape your show so we can see it!

It is the 21st century and every single member of the band works for a high tech company. I think there will probably a 20 to 30 video cameras running during our show. I am certain we can edit together some videos.

The audio, on the other hand, that's a different story.

What about this drummer?

Charlie_Watts_on_drums.jpg

What Charlie Watts does isn't physically demanding (and some would argue it's not even drumming).

I've never seen him put much effort into playing. He is an extremely good drummer and does exactly enough to make the music great, but it isn't about complexity or chops. Where some do very little on drums, other do a ton. I probably do way too much, but I enjoy it.

Agreed. If Charlie were replaced by Neil Peart, the Stones wouldn't be the Stones (nor nearly as successful). I can appreciate the concepts of less is more and simple but effective. They served Ringo Starr and Phil Rudd very well.

That guy got his 15 minutes of fame for that video. He was paid to appear at several drum clinics and Guitar Center Drum-Offs from the fame he got over that video. He is funny, but not a great drummer.

Ah, but if Neil Peart were replaced by Charlie Watts, Rush wouldn't be Rush (nor nearly as successful), either! ;)

I just ordered a bass drum head. Here's the design (the dashed red line won't be printed on the head).

^ Uh... Flint, the mascot... I'm just noticing something now after you posted that. The choice of the color and the shape... Am I thinking too much? :confusion-scratchheadyellow: :confusion-shrug:

Or, maybe our resident expert MattB can chime in on this.

He's a mediocre drummer, but a great entertainer.

There are more than one type of entertainment. It can be an entertainment via performance or comedic. I think we know which one he belongs to.
