Okay, since it's kind of my fault this thread even exists, I'll post the few movies I've seen that I think were worth it, but again, I'm not a movie buff. Since there are several I'll just list them, without pics (sorry):
Lord of the Rings trilogy. Loved the books, loved the movies.
Star Wars The first 3, anyway.
Planet Earth A documentary, but I've hiked and sat in blinds enough over the years to realize how difficult this project had to be. Incredible.
Schindler's List Not a movie I'll ever watch again, but everyone on the planet should see it once. (Hint: this is not a good "first date" movie...)
2001: A Space Odyssey If I had to choose a favorite director, it'd be Kubrick. The way he plays with camera angles and lighting are fantastic. Which is why I also recommend:
Dr. Strangelove (I also worked in the nuclear weapon industry for over a decade, so this hits home)
Iron Man The obligatory popcorn movie, I enjoyed this one so much more than other summer blockbusters I've seen.
Going thru my collection, I realized I'll need to start my own thread, Must-See DVD Concerts, but that'll take some time.
