Ah, yes. Those words make me think. And thinking is a painful activity that I'd rather avoid. So let's get nostalgic and call it reminiscing, OK? Let me see... I still like my PS3, but I do wish I had one of the newer ones that are supposedly quieter. Though, looking back, I'll admit that my old launch-model PS3 was pretty quiet compared to the Xbox 360 I had briefly, and in fairness the PS3 wasn't really any louder than my now long-gone standalone HD-DVD player (Toshiba HDA3). Talk about a bad investment! Now where was I? Where am I going with this? I had a thought. Oh, yes... It's funny about the PS3, because in the past I never would've thought I'd have been OK with using a game system for a movie player. In fact, I frequently made fun of the folks who said way back when that the PS2 (the two, mind you) was a good investment since it was also a "free" DVD player. But along comes the PS3 and now look at me! When I first bought it, I honestly thought I'd have replaced it with a standalone BD player eventually. Certainly by now since basic BD models from Sony, Panasonic, and such are close to a mere hundred bucks. But I haven't replaced my PS3 yet. Priorities change, I guess. About the only standalone players these days that I'd like to get would be one of Oppo's BluRay players since they do SACD/DVD-Audio. That said, given the higher price of the Oppo's, I'd almost rather buy one of the newer style PS3s if they truly run quieter, even if it is considered more of a toy. But a darn powerful toy it is! Not that I'd actually do that. One PS3 is good enough for me, old louder fan or not. Besides I could use the money not spent on another player to buy cookies, instead. I like cookies. Do you like cookies? My favorite cookies are Chips Ahoy followed by Chips Deluxe. Preferably the Chips Deluxe with M&M candies! I like M&Ms. But I also like Reese's Pieces. Not as much as I like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, though. And, oddly enough, I think I'd rather have cookies made up with miniature Peanut Butter cups on top than, say, Reese's Pieces. But M&M's are the best on cookies, regardless. Especially if they're home made cookies. I'm not a big fan of home-made chocolate chip cookies, but I totally dig home-made M&M cookies. They taste really good. M&M cookes are so yummy. MMMmmmmmm.... In fact, it's the kind of cookies that I plan to leave out for Santa Claus this year. Yes, it will be a glass of milk and some home-made M&M cookies for Santa. But I worry. What if Santa only likes homemade M&M cookies when they are hot and fresh? What to do? What to do? Whatever will I do to make sure I stay on the "nice" list and avoid being named "naughty"? I don't want Santa to be pissed at me just because the cookies aren't warm. Let's see... I think what I'll do is to leave Santa a note saying that if he wants to warm up the cookies that he has my permission to turn on my old-style PS3 and he can then put the cookies right next to the cooling fan that is venting the old-style PS3's hot air. After playing a few games, watching a movie, or surfing the internet---no porn, Santa!---I suspect the cookies will become almost as good as when they first came out of the oven, I think. Christmas will be saved, and it's all thanks to the PS3. I'm so happy right now, practically content. Unless Santa wants to bring me a bunch of newly upgraded HT equipment for free, that is!
