Wow thank you. I will try that. If I do have to clean the thingy, I assume goggle will tell me how. Cause that crackle drives me bonkers! And yes its knob on the speaker.

you all are so helpful,I'm just going to keep them coming! I have M-Audio powered near field monitors for computer speakers. When I adjust the volume, either up or down, there is a crackle that comes through the speakers. Other than that they sound fine. Any thoughts? Thank you very much.
