Heeman - Dedicated HT Room?

Seriously, I'm both impressed and happy for you Keith. The pace you've stayed on while doing all this yourself is amazing. You're so close so seeing it through to the finish line so don't let up now. Then sit back with HUGE amounts of pride every time you fire that system up. Congrats on everything you've accomplished so far!! :handgestures-thumbup:

Thanks again for all of the compliments!! It sure has been one of the most involved projects I have taken on, especially with all of the renovation work that had to be completed first!

Last night when I entered the HT at 9PM and popped the BR in, I just said to myself, "I can't believe that this is in my house".

This is a long time coming baby..................... I have wanted a dedicated room just for my audio system for years, however after attending T7's, yromj's and Bats GTG, I was sold on the projector/screen combo, at the time I attended T7's my only display was a Panasonic 42" Plasma EDTV. 11/11 we upgrade to the Sammy 59" plasma and now this............

Now to finish and then have someone with a great camera take some pic's.

I hope that a few of you will be willing to travel to Deep South Texas to share my enjoyment in the future.

I just ordered this:

Mellotone Premium Black Speaker Grill Cloth for my absorption panels. I ordered enough for about 6 panels so that I can see how I like it.

Should be delivered early next week.

Time to build some frames........

Ordered (2) Poang Chairs from IKEA today, they will be delivered on Wednesday, 5/22. The Green Loveseat is just way to bulky to have behind the Palliser Elite Loveseat for the second row.

Our HT will be a (4) seat theater which is just right for it's size......

Made a temporary platform out of EPS Foam today at work. Will use the Green Loveseat until the Poang's show up and then plan the permanent platform.

How rigid/heavy is that EPS?

I know you said its a temporary platform but can you use that stuff for things like framing acoustic panels, or carving decorative facades (a la the batcave)?

^ This EPS is 1 lb density and is pretty rigid. I may use it as the final platform and just cover with Plywood and Carpet. I wouldn't use it for the frames for the acoustic panels because at thicknesses less than 2" or so it can snap pretty easy.

The platform is 58" x 48" x 14".

I made angled speaker stands for the Studio 20's in the living room and also a speaker stand for my Center Speaker in the HT. It is a Paradigm Studio MTM that I have vertical.

Surrounds are now mounted and speaker wire run through the attic.

Spent a couple hours covering the White Speaker Wires with Black Heat Shrink Tubing and giving them a final dress.

Also worked behind the equipment rack dressing those wires. It is really coming together nicely.

I had a problem with the Velcro Adhesive for the Window Block out. I spoke to the company in FL that I ordered it from and they sent a product with different adhesive and 2" width instead of .75". Installed that and it seems to have done the trick. Zero light leakage from the window.

I will try to shoot some pic's today.

My Brother and my nephew arrive tomorrow afternoon and will be spending a week here, really looking forward to it!

So they're coming for the week and you only wanted to pick 1 movie?!? Explain yourself :D

We have many on the list. Was just looking for a suggestion for some animated stuff because they just look so, so good on the screen compared to a film shot movie.............

I still can not believe that this room is functional.

Spent some time yesterday touching up some of the paint issues.

I need to start to build frames for the acoustical panels.

I took some pic's however not quality enough to post. I need to figure out how to use the manual mode on the camera to get some higher quality shots!

We watched the Immortals and Sinister over the weekend and I still can not believe that this is in my home!!

^--- He got a loveseat and Stargate probably didn't have a stock photo of that configuration. And he's gonna kick the crap out of me if he doesn't like it because I recommended it over dual seats in a pm conversation we had. It'd be nice if someone offered a loveseat with fold-away armrest in the center...

Turns out we are very pleased with the Loveseat......................

The Palliser Elite, is a firm seat, but comfortable................I have fallen a sleep twice in the HT so far!

Alright, alright..........you guys have me figured out........ :eek:bscene-drinkingdrunk:

I just got a chance to check in again...and...WOW!!! GREAT WORK DUDE!!!

I'm running out the door right now, but I want to comment on something I read a couple of pages ago. When you buy the URC remote, make sure you buy the URC MRF-350 base station. This will provide you RF capability.

Oh, one other question: Do your amps not have "auto-sensing" capabilities so that they automatically switch on when a signal is sensed ala the amp in your sub?

John

Hey Johm,

Thanks!

We have been enjoying the HT now about 1.5 weeks. AWESOME.

Still need to build the acoustical panels.

Will not be buying the URC Remote components until later this year.

No the amps do not have auto sensing, that would be sweet if they did.

Looking forward to seeing you at Chris's!

Keith

Still trying to get some acceptable pic's.....

HT has been functional for 2 weeks as of tonight.

54 hrs on the projector, not sure if that is excessive or not, however I haven't spent near as much time in there that I have wanted.....

Big race day tomorrow, Indy 500 and Coca Cola 600... That will put a few more hours on the JVC!!
