Let's play name that tune, by lyrics!!

^^^L That tenor solo at about 1:45, with the mellow, Getz-esque breathy tone, just pulls the song in a completely different direction; so much contrast!! :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup:

Mama, where's your pretty little girl tonight?
Trying to run before she can walk, that's right

Botch,
I think you are being coy in your answer but I am not completely sure? I am going to give you the win!!!

Carly Simon ------ It's too Late.

"He sat down on the curb to rest,

and his head fell down upon his chest

Too many days of fightin' the weather,

Too many nights not bein' together . . .

So he died"

This is a hard one. ~
Even I can't remember the song title .... but if anyone can name the old country music singer who sang it Wins.

I know thats The Man in Black! But like you I will never get the title but I can hear the Cash man a singin it.

^^^ great guess. Johnny could've done the song great!

The old country singer who recorded the song was Bobby Brown

(used to listen to it on the jukebox in a bar in southern Indiana a long time ago)

I think the guy your thinking of was Bobby Bare. Seem's the name the song were thinking is "let it roll" covered by Bobby Bare and Johnny Cash but written by the great Guy Clark.

Hah! It's Carole King, not Carly Simon! :naughty: :teasing-tease:

I had to add one here, probably the worst lyric ever written:

If you receive your calling, before I awake,
Will I make it through the niiiiiight...

:laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :? :laughing-rolling:

BOOM BOOM OUT GO THE LIGHTS.........RIGHT

BOOM AND I SAID, OUT GO THE LIGHTS..........

Look out the left the captain said
The lights down there that's where we'll land

One group made it famous but someone even more famous actually wrote the song.

It's been long enough. I figured people are stumped or just bored.

This Flight Tonight-------Nazareth (commercial success) Joni Mitchell wrote it.

I seem to be playing the quiz master? All mine are two lines and always the first two lines.

Don't wanna discuss it
Think it's time for a change

Oh man, now I can hear it perfectly. I thought the lyrics should have sounded familiar but I COULD NOT get them.

This one is easy, but does anybody know what the song is about?

He was born, a pauper to a pawn, on a Christmas Day,
When the New York Times said "God is dead!"
And the wars began...

This one I can get. Levon by Elton John. Didn't have to look it up....honest!! But I did look up the lyrics , and apparently the Levon referenced in the song is actually based on Levon Helm. The Band being one of Bernie Taupin and Elton John's favourites at the time. As for the rest of the song....beats the crap out of me!!! Ever read the lyrics for "Ride my Llama" by Neil Young? I think these guys were all high when they wrote most of their lyrics!!! :laughing-rolling:

Yep that song I always thought was written after a late night of booze and drugs.

NEIL YOUNG LYRICS
"Ride My Llama"

Remember the Alamo
When help was on the way
It's better here and now,
I feel that good today.

I'd like to take a walk
But not around the block
I really got some news
I met a man from Mars.
He picked up all my guitars
And played me traveling songs.

And when we got on ship
He brought out
something for the trip
And said, It's old but it's good
Like any other primitive would.

I'm gonna ride my llama
From Peru to Texarkana
I wanna ride him good
In my old neighborhood
I'm gonna ride him good
In my old neighborhood.

And when we got on ship
He brought out
something for the trip
And said, It's old but it's good
Like any other primitive would.
