Saldog's Basement Build Thread

Saldog,
I hate you as much as I hate Bats, as stated in the Hillside cinema thread!!! Great job!!! Jealous as hell!! :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup:

I should mention, with the carpet, the audio is much improved. Much less ringing in high frequencies. That said, i still want to add acoustic panels at the 1st reflection points.

Very nice! That is very similar to the setup I have in mind to build one day. I love the bar at the back.

Ditto.

I wish my HT space was more multi-functional but I just don't have the depth in the room. Great job Saldog.

Thanks guys. We have been enjoying it quite a bit. Even had guests stay in the new guest room. I took some pictures this weekend. Here you go.

New stools (they were cheap, but they work well enough).

So when's the GTG? :angelic-green:

The place looks great, Mike! Really! :text-bravo:

I'm sorry if I missed it elsewhere in the thread but what are your plans for a screen? Or was your intent all along to "paint" a screen?

Yeah, we really do need to plan a GTG. I'll try to figure out what weekends might work for that.

As for the screen, the plan is still to get a real one. I would probably go with the Elite Screens 125" 2.35:1. The wall is just primered, so it's definitely not ideal. You can see wall texture if you're looking for it. We are debating redoing our kitchen, though, so we'll have to figure out best use of finances, which may impact timing of the screen.

That looks great. I think the screen looks awesome. That flush look is really clean. Maybe just some screen paint or something and that might be really cool.

Thanks guys. Botch, word of warning if you ever make it here: do not try to stand up on the riser while under the soffit :)

I can crouch, as long as you included a beer shelf for me somewhere.

Media Shelves under the stairs

So Chris came up this weekend to help me (ok, more like i helped him) build some swing-out media shelves underneath the stairs, so that i can retain access to the back of my equipment.

The whole thing is solid oak, with a 3/4" oak plywood back. We made good use of Chris' tools, including breaking in a virgin router :)

We started with the jamb, then made the rectangular case, then the odd shaped one.

The impromptu garage workshop:

And it clears the jamb (after a little clearance work)
