Yep! Eat a Peach is pretty darn good! Also, the Allman's SACD of their "At The Fillmore East" live album has a great 5.1 ambient surround mix with great sound quality. If you decide to go looking for it, though, be careful to make sure it's the version that has a 5.1 multichannel mix. My SACD came out in maybe 2003/2004, but it looks like there is a new/upcoming SACD release that Acoustic Sounds shows as a preorder, and I worry the new one might be stereo-only.

As for King Crimson. Do you have the DVD-Audio of "Lizard"? I really like the 5.1 surround mix on that one.

Yup, Eat a Peach and Fillmore sound great in 5.1 surround. I miss the Yourmusic.com days. 1/2 my SACD collection was at $6.99.

Those were good times! Got me plenty of SACDs and a few 5.1 DualDiscs from them.

And, if I recall correctly, I was able to sign up to Yourmusic.com at a promo rate of only $4.99. At that price I bought way more than just my minimum of one per month. (I'm sure I wasn't the only one buying like crazy!) Besides, the original owners of the company had pretty good customer service. I once had my Eagles double CD bust open and get lost during shipping. So I only got part of my order. But Yourmusic didn't give me any grief whatsoever and they shipped out a replacement immediately. Ah... but times change. Seems hardly anyone buys physical CDs anymore. I think they shut down, didn't they?

This is one of those maxi-CD singles from Travis's 2003 album Re-Offender.

Looks like I've got 4 bonus tracks, but something is messed up in my iTunes. Methinks I probably bought two separate CD singles with different bonus tracks (and not just a single disc). Like a Re-offender "part 1" and a "part 2". But it just got tagged under a single album. Might as well leave it that way, I guess.

Now I've moved onto a song by Donald Byrd called, "The Dude".

I downloaded it a couple of months back when it was Google Play's free song of the day. I saw where he passed away just recently. I don't know much about him, but this song is pretty good. Seems to by a jazzy trumpet player in the progressive vein of Weather Report type of music. At least on this one track.

Botch played a track from this DVD-Audio at the GTG and it sounded pretty amazing so I purchased the hi-rez version from HDTracks:

Morph The Cat is one of my favorites, I only have it on CD, it is still a great one!

How do you play the hi-rez from HDTracks? Can Squeezebox stream 96/24? Or does there need to be a higher-end 96/24 sound card in the computer and then wired?

So far I've just played it on my computer while at work using VLC media player. I know I can throw the album on a USB drive and play it via the Oppo. I'll see what I can do with the Squeezebox this weekend. I'm also wondering if I can convert the FLAC files to Apple lossless and go through the AppleTV...

Have fun experimenting!

If I recall correctly... I once converted a 48/24 FLAC file to Apple Lossless BUT I'm sure I did it the hard way. FLAC in Media Monkey to WAV. Then WAV to Apple Lossless in iTunes. But I think I down-rezzed the file to 44.1/16-bit since I didn't think my first-generation Airport Express would stream hi-rez. Or maybe it down-rezzed it automatically? I can't remember. Also, no idea if new models or if the Apple TV can steam hi-rez. But I hope they can, either now or in the near future.
