What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Picked up the Outsiders in the $7.88 bluray bin at Walmart, and was surprised the wife had never seen it. Not sure it holds up, but it was fun in a nostalgic kind of way when we watched it. Forgot how bad Tom Cruise's teeth were in it. Also picked up Zero Dark Thirty in the same bin, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Gen and I went to see Black Panther in IMAX 3D last week and I gotta say ... I was more disappointed than impressed. I was motivated to go see it in theatre because of the great reviews and comments - and multiple interviews with various cast members on a variety of late night shows etc. But I came away with a sense of lunch bag letdown. Not that it was bad; just that it fell way below (grossly inflated) expectations.
Wow !!! Agreed !! Took my two kids to see this movie on Saturday morning. We all came out saying "meh". I think it was all the hype?

Great movie. I also liked it's companion film which was a bit buzzer, Rumble Fish. Good pick Huey.

Been awhile since I've seen Rumblefish, but remember it being good as well. When we started watching last night and seeing all of those big stars so early in their careers, I told the wife that Matt Dillon was probably the biggest star of the bunch at that point in time.

Watched Magnificent 7 on Amazon last night. Great cast led by Denzel followed by a fun story based on the 60' version with McQueen, Brynner, Bronson, Coburn and Wallach to name a few. These were mens men in that era. To point Steve Mcqueen in Bullitt.

My father always liked westerns. He called them movies that when you watched, you didn't have to think.

I still haven't seen this one and I really want to.

Was surprised to see Valerian available on Amazon Prime so figured I'd give it a shot. I had to force myself to push through and not give up on it until I could finally take no more. I made it to 32:14...

I hear the 4K picture is amazing though. I think you should finish it :p

I was watching it through the app on an AppleTV 4K with it's usually decent pseudo HDR and no, I don't give a shit how good it looks if it's a POS movie. Just like I have no desire to watch Cloverfield even though it supposedly has a great LFE track. For some reason I gave in and watched Pacific Rim a year or so ago and that just drove the point home...

We watched The Shape of Water yesterday. I just don’t see how that won the Best Picture Oscar.

Was thinking of seeing it. Then saw the story line. A fish and a human having a "relationship"? I've watched some weird porno, but I'm not going there.

**LIGHT SPOILER**

A graphic scene doesn’t even exist....while intercourse does take place, they don’t show anything.

What gets me it seems del Toro essentially ripped off the fish character from Hellboy, a movie he also directed. I have never seen that mentioned anywhere.

I haven't seen the movie so maybe I am mistaken.

LIGHT SPOILER

I can see where one may say that....there’s some similarities but that didn’t really cross my mind. The same actor plays the two characters though. Abe Sapien (from Hellboy) also speaks intelligently while the creature in TSoW uses gestures and some sign language.

I finally got around to watching IT last night with my daughter and it was very solid. It was basically a dark and twisted take on films like ET and The Goonies.

Yeah, Doug Jones is probably the most famous guy you've never heard of. He's also the guy who uses his eyeballs in his hands in that other Del Toro movie.

I watched Hugo this morning for the 4th or 5th time. After my first viewing back in 2011, it was an instant classic for me. I still find several things very fascinating about it. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Hugo is pretty close to a perfect movie.

I agree and have been mulling over watching it again so probably this weekend.
