What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Zing said:
Hey MZ, did you watch The Phantom yet? If so, your thoughts?
A real stinker Zing. It has two parts. I watched the first part, hoping it would get better, and 20 minutes of the second until I turned it off, just too painful to watch. Looks like a TV program that would have been quickly cancelled.

^^ Joms, I love Brotherhood of the Wolf!! One of my faves...I wish they'd release it in the US on BD already. If I had a region free BD player I could get it from the UK.

Below average thriller...pretty disappointed. Potentially good cast too. :handgestures-thumbdown:

i loved that movie too in the past, but at times i felt that it showed some 'dated-ness' considering the CGI was pretty er... young back in the day. but man, some of the scenes are definitely memorable.

You should also consider Decasco's older movie, Crying Freeman.

The brother in the movie will definitely be the underdog for some movies, but i see a rising star in his upcoming future. i liked his performance in The eagle, considering Channing Tatums acting was dryer than a grannys hoo hoo.

Bad script. Cheesy acting. Terrible dialog.
Great movie. LOL

It could have been EPIC with a good script and cast.
Or it could have been awesome if they had gone all-the-way-cheesy which they tried in many scenes. But the actors just couldn't pull off either direction.
It's too bad because the cinematography, special effects, and explosion and death ratio were KICK ASS!!

Watched last night. First off I am a huge fan of these type of "Bruckhiemeresque" movies. Bad script and acting? Hell yes but it wasn't made to win an Oscar.

Great action, lots of explosions and a bit of a hat tip to some veterans. A fun two hours IMO, will be buying.

This article says it all but CONTAINS SPOILERS.

I have absolutely zero excuse for not seeing this sooner. I've heard nothing but great things about it but just haven't taken the time to see it. I found it at a local Fry's for $5 so I finally picked-it up.

Great, great flick.

Thanks to Batman for turning me on to this one. Great performances which is saying a lot considering how challenging the script must have been to translate to film.

I "saw" this on an airline (didn't pay for the headphones) but had to rent it afterwards because of his car: a 1988 Saab 900 Turbo convertible, red with a black top! Only difference between it and mine is mine had the tan interior, his, black. :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup: :handgestures-thumbup: :ugeek:

great porn flick! :happy-smileygiantred:

in all seriousness, i loved that movie as well, but cant 'watch' it when i know we have tweens or what not around... too bad they dont sell 'TNT' version movies...

From my Amazon Prime membership...

Although I'm usually not so much of a documentary kind of guy, I liked it.

And yeah, I have a sushi itch I have to scratch now.

We watched this one this past weekend at T7's house in his very nice theater..........

Cute movie with some very funny parts.

This is the animated adaptation of the classic '86 graphic novel. This story along with Watchmen changed the comic book industry forever and changed the way Batman comics would be written for 25 years... It along with Watchmen are considered two of the most critically acclaimed and influential graphic novels of all time. Roughly a year ago WB released Batman: Year One, another GN adaptation, that didn't translate to video as well as a fan would hope. This film however, is different. It was really well done and it was really cool to see its influence on the The Dark Knight Rises from a story perspective and also Nolan's influence on the creators of this adaptation. If you're a fan of Batman and/or comics, IMO, it's a must own. I'm also looking forward to PT.2 in early 2013.

i was curious as to how 'faithful' this adaptation would be with the original frank miller novel, and from the looks of the trailer, it seems to be very very close.

for ol time sake, heres the original cover of the series...

no effin way!?!?

SPOILER!!!

did they show the er... tank scene where he rolls up to the big guy tho?

man, this mustve been amazing...

sound quality tho, good?

^^ Yeah! They didn't leave much out. And the SQ is decent. The soundtrack, to me, was obviously influenced by the Nolan films...
