Who's excited about The Grand Tour?

^Agreed! That guy was a douche with a capital D.

And the bag it came in.

I’m not usually a conspiracy theory guy but ... I think they got a chubby dude and made him an unlikeable asshole to make fun of Americans and make everyone else like Americans a little less.

If there's a shred of truth to that then this year's driver ought to be a real humdinger.

I thought it was meant as an obvious caricature of stereotypes serious global auto nerds, specific Formula 1 nerds, have about Nascar and the Nascar fans. I thought it was meant humorously and well-intentioned, to laugh along with us as we laugh at ourselves, so to speak. I liked it and found The American really funny in that context. Sure, he was extending a negative stereotype, but he was a real driver with a real (though I assume exaggerated accent) making fun of himself. That's how I saw it and I liked it.

I didn't like their track, though, and the lack of sense of a real raceway killed the suspense and value of the track, so all I was left with was the character in the car and the video porn of the slow-motion cars spinning its wheels while thick mist of surface water flew up behind it. The real "science" of the racing was dull and quite pointless - especially compared to the airport where they drove on the old show. With all attention on the antics of the words the driver was saying, it had to be perfect to be as good as the old "let's put this car to the test" they used to do. And it was far from perfect.

I think you have that backwards. It should be 'Formula 1 fans' and 'NASCAR nerds'.

Any minute now I'll be receiving a text from Heeman that will almost certainly include a middle finger.

Douche......................

Saw Episode 1, it was very good, but not as good as any of the previous season's shows. They didn't discuss their new track, at all. They didn't really seem to be ready to tape, and the mood was average at best. However, they claim they started late this year because of the health issues, so maybe that's true and it'll get better. I hope it does.

I also noticed the music was lame, like they didn't bother to license some exciting rock hit from the 1970s. I wish they would do something, the current opening credits are lame.

No spoilers, I do recommend you watch this show, it had some amazing moments worth watching.

^ I found the first episode highly entertaining & hysterical. Especially when Richard made the reservations for a three day stay at a Detox Spa. The Gorge they had to drive through. Jeremy trying to corner the Lamborghini into a side street in Switzerland and being unsuccessful. The meal comments (about the spa) all of the above I enjoyed.

The speed of the Croatian electric car was amazing.

Yeah, I really enjoy this show...which is something I haven’t found since the BBT and before that ‘The Sopranos’.

I agree; the opening montage previewing the season is backed by “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by The Who. :p

I hope it is even close to the original BBC Top Gear..... I can easily say Top Gear has been my favorite all time series.
I love these guys!

7 is a fair score. I’d have appreciated a little more talk about the electric and hybrid cars. Still ... fun show and I’m looking forward to more.

I like the new track based segment.

I see that now. I also see the release date for the first episode was Dec. 7th (last Thu) yet they advertised the new season started Dec. 8th.

Not complaining, just bewildered. And a little annoyed that I could've watched last week's episode 24 hours earlier than I did.

They said each episode launches Friday's at 1am. Maybe they meant 12:01 am in the UK, which is 6pm East coast, or 5pm central. The power of the internet, my friend.
