BLUES Music

Just finished watching this one. Very, very cool! Those long extended solos and jams gave me a much improved grasp of SRV's playing, and blues style in general. It was really fun to watch the interplay between the two of them.

Psssst.....hey Pauly...

Have any experience with this one yet?

If so, I hope it was better than mine.

I was just thinking I should give that one a more serious listen. I put it in I think and listened to a bit, but was distracted and haven't gotten around to it again. Not your favorite, huh?

Continuing my SRV education, this is a good boxed set with 3 CDs of mostly live/rare tracks in chronological order. Has a DVD as well - haven't watched that yet. And a nice biographical 72-page booklet, informative and with lots of pics and quotes from people close to him. Definitely a worthwhile buy for those interested in knowing more about SRV's life and career.

I'm refraining from any further comments (said too much already) until you've given it a good listen, as to not sway your opinion one way or the other.

Gotcha. Ok, will listen - maybe later today - and report impressions.

Late great blues harps man Little Hatch.

Used to walk across street to local blues niteclub to watch this man when he was there. One my favorites on the mouth harp you may have not herd of.

More Little Hatch

Cool, thanks Srvy! Wish I had a blues club across the street...

Key word is used to have they bulldozed it down in or around 2004 for a Blockbuster and Quiktrip convenience store. Man i miss that place some good times there saw some amazing talent. Little Hatch and the Houserockers were there often and i tried never to miss him. Would have loved to have herd that man when he was younger I only learned of him when he was in his late 70s. The club was Nitemoves several his videos are there lots of the greats went though there on the blues circuit.

Ugh. "Progress" sucks sometimes! Guess blues isn't generally big money, so it gets relegated to near underground status. Sigh.

You can see this band free around KC and i have many times. There slowly getting some recognition in and around blues circles. Theres word they have recorded a cd now but not sure of it. There Brothers and sister and if you notice all lefties. She is quiet expressive and emotional in her singing really brings in every song she sings.

Wow, thanks! They're pretty good. I'm fairly impressed by their lead guitarist - the lefty - his solos in both those videos are quite good. And I've been listening to A LOT of blues guitar lately... I'll have to look more into them; I'd definitely buy a CD of theirs, or pay to go to a show.

Actually, looks like they have a few CDs out, may have to try one. Too bad they don't seem to go east of the Mississippi... ;)

~ a bit of info ~ I haven't read the comparison, but Eric Bibb's
voice and music is very similar to Keb Mo, but with his own stylings, of course.
