Joe Bonamassa

So Joe invited us on the tour with him... :laughing-rolling:

Nice to see Joe up close again. I was pleased that he actually remembered us. I guess my nefarious plan of being the only one to give him a classical piano CD every time I see him is paying off!

The concert was good, too!

Actually, it was great. Started off with a 45-minute acoustic set, including the full group who were in the original Vienna Acoustic concert, except substituting Derek Sherinian for Arlan Schierbaum. It was especially fun getting to watch Lenny Castro play. A brief intermission to change gear, and then another 1:40 or so of his normal electric stuff.

Sound was pretty good. Our seats were great - 8th row, a couple seats off of center. It was interesting to see how some of the songs have changed since last time, and/or since the album releases. He did a mix of newer and older songs, including a couple Muddy Waters (I think) old-style blues songs which were great.

Overall, a terrific evening. And I only took about 20 pictures; I couldn't bring in a zoom lens, so I made a conscious effort to ignore the camera and just LISTEN. It was good.

Here's one of the more bluesy songs from this show, pretty good PQ/SQ for a hand-held vid from a seat just behind mine.

For the impatient ;) - good solo starting around 3:50, and really starts smokin' around 5:45 - yeah it was a pretty extended solo. :ugeek:

One more, one of my favorite songs from his latest album...

Edit: watch Joe start playing around at about 5:20; and watch the reactions of Tal and Lenny (drummers) and Carmine (bass).

I saw this on Farcebook earlier, wasn't sure whether to post it but when this thread popped back up, I took it as a sign. Free blues album from Joe:

Hmm, just noticed the tag "=saltlakecity", don't know if it'll work from your location, or if you can change it to your own city, or....?

Hope it works for anyone interested, let me know.

^-- Yeah, it works. It's a compilation "album" of tracks from past albums - but still, it's free.

“I asked him why the price was so high, and he said, ‘Well, Slash used Jubilees for the Guns N’ Roses tone, and now this kid Joe Bonamassa is using them, so it’s $4,000.’ ”

:laughing-rolling:

Yeah, Joe doesn't look - or act - like your typical rock star. One of the reasons I respect him.

I was hoping to get my Muddy BD today - pre-ordered - but alas it didn't show. So I had to content myself with a revisit to the Shepherd's Bush concert from the Tour de Force set.
