Skyrim

:laughing-rolling:

Yeah, it's complicated - for a video game. But it's not rocket science. You figure it out as you go along, you don't have to know all that just to start.

That said, Lego Star Wars is awesome, too. I (and my daughters) enjoyed that one very much!

Single player. Supposedly people (3rd party) are working on online multiplayer, but it's not an official part of the game as far as I know.

Edit: huh? What happened to T7's question?

Heard about that too (its in gamestops magazine for those interested)... mmo for skyrim. or fallout. nice either way.

regarding to towens question...

It didn't take long for me to realize that just learning how to play would require a major commitment of time and energy. The charts of potions, spells, weapons, skill, perks... were dizzying.

It overwhelmed me so I just bought a used copy of Lego Star Wars. I envy you guys with the ability and patience to play Skyrim.

at the end of the day, the only thing you REALLY need to look into is what kind of player or character you choose to play and how to make him exceed in such light. its a simplified RPG actually, granted first time players always have a hard time with it (heck i still do as well)...

if you want to be an archer, keep hitting things with a bow and arrow... want to be a barbarian, go two handed or one handed with a shield....

The only challenging part FOR ME is the mage stuff. i dont need to be a good alchemist or what not. i have my sword to speak for me. and my bow.

Sorry for the confusion... I didn't realize Pauly was so quick... I deleted the question a minute or two after I posted it because I decided to just look it up.

for what its worth towen, ive read that book only from time to time while it sits on the bathroom throne.

its nothing really, and if i didnt get to buy it for 5 bucks, i wouldnt have bought it at all.

rpg's can be daunting, i have to admit, but after all those numbers, its just a simple game.

give it a shot, you've got some trusty nerds on board to help if ever.

try it T it's a fun one!

And once you start you'll quickly realize it's just what you make of it.

Like Pauly was saying earlier, he was wondering what every one is doing because you can grow to what ever you like... sniper, theif, barbarian, and eventually you'll end up a combination of them all...

one quick tip if you dont mind towen,

1. the beginning is boring, like until level 7 boring. like walking around a lot and discovering, looting, hoarding boring.
2. do NOT steal anything. not yet.
3. sneak. sneak. sneak.
4. smith. smith. smith.

and basque in how beautiful the 'world' is.

lastly, dont update unless you need to, i personally skipped even the 1.04 patch.

Razz, did you patch?

Sounds more like work than fun but I'm open minded and I will give it a shot. Probably not for a month or so when I can buy a used copy though.

I didn't develop the smithing/enchanting paths at all, although my actual smithing value is pretty high because I make a lot of jewelry - good way to fence some stolen jewels!

I'm at level 48 now, and further character development is very slow now as it takes a LONG time to level up. And training is expensive. That's the one thing I dislike about very open-ended games like this, that I have to spend a HUGE amount of time in inventory management, selling stuff, etc. It can get a bit tedeious.

Anyone know if it does any good to fight dragons - and absorb their souls (yeah T7, another geek thing!) - before getting access to all the shouts? I have killed quite a few dragons, but haven't done a lot of the power word quests so I only have two shouts yet.

Wow you guys are leveling up quickly.

I just reached lvl 40 today.

Pauly, keep collecting dragon souls. You store them and use them to unlock the shouts later.

D

I haven't played in a week! :gay-imgay:

Every time I want to play I realize that I don't have 2 or 3 hours right now to finish the next quest. :x

I bought Skyrim today and played for about an hour. If I know myself I'll bet that I'll play for a couple of hours a day for a week or two then I'll drop time on it and replace it with something just as useless.

Anywho... The picture is crazy dark. I had to put my TV into torch mode to see what was going on in the opening mission. Even then it's hard to see much in the little town.

T7, there should be a brightness setting in the game somewhere... But yeah that first mission is going through a cave so it's kinda dark.

Yeah, I went into game options and turned it up full...

Did you try that first?

smither... enchant... smither... (repeat a couple hundred times) Use alchemy for better smithering and enchantment.

Alchemy....

Better enchantments by combining two of..
Blue Butterfly wing
Hagraven Claw
Snowberries
Spriggan Sap

Better Smithering by combing two of...
Glowing Mushroom
Sabre Cat Tooth
Blisterwort
Spriggan Sap

Better Alchemy by combing two of...
Blisterwort
Glowing Mushroom

I didn't see (or look for) a brightness option in the game menu. The Arkham games let you set brightness right at the title screen. I'll check for that later.

Ps3 right towen? It's under the system tab, display, then brightness.

Pauly absorb dragon souls as many as you can,it gets stored and you can use it later on.

you know i used to know where it was....

until i took an arrow to the knee... :happy-smileygiantred:
