What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Return to another great classic... damn this is a good movie, and great acting.

I need to watch this one again, that was a lot of brain cells ago.
I remember a discussion with my best friend about this movie, he hated it because the main dirtball (the guy in the top of the video photo, can't remember his name) used too many big words. I argued that it was HIGHLY accurate, as there were one or two of my classmates on the "constant truancy" list who were highly intelligent, just "different", or "fed up".
I've understood that last category more and more, these last five years.

Judd Nelson as John Bender. Didn't even have to google search that shit. That one just jumped out at me. Btw little known fact. The joke Judd Nelson was telling as he was crawling thru the ceiling was all improvised and he had no idea while telling it how it was going to end. He knew he was to fall thru the ceiling at one point and was just told to improvise something so he started to make a joke that never got finished.

Finally got around to watch the reboot of Total Recall. As a movie on it's own, it wasn't terrible, but it severely missed the mark being a reboot.

^^ I pegged that as one of the worst movies of the year in 2012. If weren't for Kate Beckensale and Jessica Biel I'd have had no reason to sit through it.

Kate still has a smokin backside for sure. I read somewhere once that Jessica is a movie killer, because just about every movie she is in, it is a stinker, although I can't say she was the problem with this one. I still don't know why they didn't play the angle of clean air like in the original.

Okay I'll admit when I was wrong. Tonight watched "Pitch Perfect" on your guys recommendation and it was a great movie. I really enjoyed the music and the jokes. Now if any of you make fun of me.......

Today watched "Woman in Gold" about a survivor of Austria during WW II trying to get back a painting of her families that was stolen by Nazi's. What an incredible movie and very well done. The true story is told via flashbacks of what was happening to one family living in Austria before and during the invasion of the Nazi's and one of the survivors who hires a young and inexperienced lawyer who both have to face battles in both Vienna and America with both court systems and her trying to get back a portrait of the survivors aunt that was painted by Klimt that has been hanging in a Vienna museum for 40 years since the end of the War.

I watched this movie knowing nothing of the story, the painting or the woman but by the end of the movie I was sitting there with tears coming down thinking of this poor woman's struggle and all that both her and her lawyer had to go thru and what both were willing to give up just to get justice.

Just a wonderful and very powerful movie not only worth buying but a must see.

Finally got to see this (perks of HBO thanks to my free Uverse upto last month)...

my wife was with me watching this, and was a bit taken back by the way the teacher 'taught'. i kinda wanted to explain to her almost the same er.... mindset, about how playing a musical instrument is needed, and how in the movie it was in essence required to be played
in Farmers insurance guy's eyes.

I agree, its not the best method out there, but i think in his light it was needed. that performance was a part of a whole, but not to his extremity. maybe toned down a bit more, but enough to command his respect.

Spoiler alert

So, on the last performance, i wonder who 'won' during or after the performance? opinions?

On my flight from London to San Diego I watched Get Hard, which was pretty funny but not a classic, and zome other movies ive wanted to see but not too much.

The screen really sucked, so.I.didnt really.enjoy them.

Took the kids to see Ant-Man yesterday, fantastic addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! One of my favs along with Iron Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Without spoiling too much Ant-Man turned out to be a fairly standard heist movie with a super-hero and the humor and charisma that Paul Rudd typically brings to most movies he's in. Michael Douglas is also good and Evangeline Lilly (what more needs to be said). Highly recommended if you're a fan of the genre.

Thanks bats, i was hoping it was more galaxy of the guardians feel. once you put aside the rigid idealogy of the comic world versus the movies, it definitely makes a better perspective.

Did you watch it in 3d?

We're going to Ant-Man in a couple hours in the Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime theater not far from us; one of only five in the country (five more are planned). I'm excited both for the movie and the theater.

Not in 3D for us either. The picture quality was easily the best I've experienced. There were only two scenes where I really noticed the Atmos soundtrack and while the audio was obviously better than the other theaters, I think the sound in my HT is every bit as good. The bass shakers in the seats were dialed in and added nicely to the experience. When the theater first opened some AVS Forum members commented that the speakers and the shakers were too hot - that's definitely been fixed.

As for the movie, I liked it at least a billion times more than Avengers 2. It was refreshing to see a decent ending to a Marvel movie instead of just an overly long, hard to follow, fight scene.

I watched two movies today. The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was enjoyable, but not as good as the first installment. American Sniper was excellent and Bradley Cooper's performance was outstanding.

One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Wow.

Someone asked me if I was planning to see Pixels. Without even seeing the movie I'd be willing to bet my paycheck that this review is spot on...
