What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Secret in their eyes (2015)

this is a remake of an Argentinian original movie by the same name. I never got to watch the original version, but I did see this last night

Sidenote : pissed since I rented this via PS4, apparently the rental 24hour countdown starts at the beginning of the film, and not at the end. understandable, and quite frankly, it was my mistake. I was about 15 minutes almost at the end, but it cut off. wifey was pissed and wanted to see the ending, so we had to re-rent the movie, and watch the end.

back to movie.

Rental, well worth it, but felt a bit dry on the characters parts (especially on Julia Roberts). it was a good movie nonetheless. but wont be buying this anytime soon as I thought I would have.

Finally got around to seeing Ant Man, family enjoyed it. Maybe not the best superhero movie ever, but it was well done and with some good humor.

We rented The Martian and liked it a lot.

All things considered I like it a lot, The acting, visuals and sound were impressive. They did a great job of making most of the really improbable situations believable.

I just watched "Sisters" with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and although a chick flick at heart I thought it was a hilarious movie about two middle age sisters who have to go home as their parents are selling their childhood home and they decide to throw a raging party to sway a couple who are looking at buying the house. Funny funny movie and holy smokes I knew wrestler John Cena was big but he grew like two sizes since his last movie. Man he is ginormous but all I could hear was Michelle saying "whoa mama" every time he came on screen.

The wife and I saw Race this weekend. I can say I was mildly disappointed. Way too much filler and back story and not enough historical content.

The movie seemed more to be a story of Jesse Owens' relationships with his wife and coach and some Olympic stuff thrown in for good measure.

Lot of time spent showing conversations between he and coach or wife etc. and then a few seconds of him winning a race then back to the relationship building.

They barely touched on the ire his winning in Berlin caused the Nazi's. Geobbels was a wooden prop without emotion and there was no depiction of the hype before the games and how Germany was going to use them as a propaganda machine.

All said, it wasn't horrible but there was so much missing that it was easily noticeable.

Just finished this, whole family enjoyed it very much. Very well done. Kinda funny considering I just watched Devil Wears Prada a few weeks ago; not that it has anything to do with this movie except Hathaway. Anyway, definitely recommended.

Ok not like it was a GREAT movie, but it was fun. And yes I recognized all the games; my kids were amused that I was pretty much the same age (12) as the kids in the beginning of the movie, set in 1982. I generally despise Adam Sandler, but really this was one of the better movies I've seen him in, for what it's worth.

We enjoyed this last night, and a few old BBT episodes afterwards.

PP2 wasnt quite as good as the first but I still enoyed it. I could see myself watching both a second time.

Enjoyed he HELL out of this movie. Really well done, very intelligent for a "spoof" movie. Lots of references to Bond-style movies of course, but a very modern sort of humor. Anyway, great flic, something I'll definitely consider purchasing.

Looks funny. I assume you did not watch this with your girls?

No, not quite kid-appropriate. Though it's mainly because of language... not anything they haven't heard before. :eusa-whistle:

My wife and I watched this last night. We both liked it. No car chases, nudity, and if there was swearing I missed it. Just good writing and acting!! I believe it was a best picture nominee. That and it was a UK /Canadian production so we HAD to watch it!!

The best Dice Clay movie:

Some nice running jokes and a young Teri Hatcher.

Not bad. Decent acting and effects and such, and pretty good SQ. But we all felt the ending was kinda... abbreviated. Like there was this great build-up and the final fight was just wham-bam-ok-he's-dead. Was left wanting something more, I guess, though I can't really say exactly what.

Also forgot to mention, we watched the entire Hunger Games series earlier this week (kids on spring break). Not bad, it was entertaining and the story was reasonably engaging. Not so terribly impressed with Lawrence, though I suppose she did ok.

I should mention, I tried to read the book(s). Got about half way through the first one, and the writing was just so awful, so juvenile and shallow, that I couldn't even get through it. Ugh. So I had no idea where the plot of the movies was going. I don't think there's anything even vaguely original in the story, just a cobble of other ideas that have been around forever (post-modern Romans, Nazis, etc.). So, entertaining, but no depth.

Probably the best part of these was Sutherland as Snow.

Not bad. Decent acting ...

IMHO ... You are being far, far, FAR too kind. I thought the acting specifically, and the movie in general was terrible.
