What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

Wasn't sure what to expect with this one, guess I kinda thought they were starting up a new trilogy of Craig as Bond. But this was really more of an epilogue to the previous three... Anyway, enjoyed it a lot, but now I have to go back and watch the entire series (of 4) for it to really make complete sense.

Edit: I guess from some brief google searches that there are plans to make more in this series/storyline? Or maybe just one more with Craig? Well, I'm curious to see where they go with it.

Also forgot to mention, we watched the entire Hunger Games series earlier this week (kids on spring break). Not bad, it was entertaining and the story was reasonably engaging. Not so terribly impressed with Lawrence, though I suppose she did ok.

I should mention, I tried to read the book(s). Got about half way through the first one, and the writing was just so awful, so juvenile and shallow, that I couldn't even get through it. Ugh. So I had no idea where the plot of the movies was going. I don't think there's anything even vaguely original in the story, just a cobble of other ideas that have been around forever (post-modern Romans, Nazis, etc.).

That was my exact reaction....to Harry Potter!!??

Ha! Ok granted the first H.P. especially was geared towards a younger audience. But I always liked Rowling's style.

This would definitely be up Hot Monkeys alley and pauly's (not for kids tho)...

Its based on Wong Fei Hung, a legendary figure back in the day, similar to Fong Sai Yuk, both are Jet Li's movies back in the day (once upon a time in China series, and the legend)

great movie, good solid storyline (for once), and good good stuff.

Its not available for purchase via Amazon, but you can rent it out via Playstation and/or Amazon if you like. ( rented via PS4).

Cool, thanks for the rec. Always liked Sammo Hung, though I admit I don't know the others in this movie.

the guy on the right of sammo hung is also a famous old schooler,

Rongguang Yu, or better known as the Iron Monkey...

Watched Krampus tonight. Holy crap what a guilty pleasure movie about how when your horrible relatives come to visit and ruin Christmas and Krampus comes and literally kills everyone in what has to be the evilest funniest ways possible. When the Gun loving rude uncle whose raised his daughters like red necked boys gets attacked by three evil gingerbread cookies I was laughing so hard.

Michelle thought this was a joyful Christmas movie about family till the opening credits started to play and she gives me that look of "you asshole you told me this was a delightful Christmas movie that children of all ages would enjoy". ( so I lied).

Yeah I was laughing when the mom is hanging this years family Christmas portrait taken with the mall Santa and sees Santa is leering at her teenage daughters ass. This movie is a sadistic, evil, hilariously funny truly scary movie. I told Michelle that this is how you make a horror movie. With violent bloody death done by the most innocent of children's toys and snacks. I was scared one second and laughing the next and I haven't had a better time watching a truly stupid movie since I saw "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil".

I've got The Revenant, Concussion, Brooklyn, The Hateful Eight, In the Heart of the Sea, Black Mass, Creed, Woodlawn and Everest in my queue, but I'm not sure which ones I will get through this weekend.

The Revenant and Black Mass are awesome movies. I was really surprised at how good Black Mass was. One of the best gangster movies I've ever seen.

Just watched "Trumbo" about blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo who wrote "Roman Holliday", The Brave One" and "Spartacus" under an assumed name" due to being blacklisted. A lot of stars in this movie and a very compelling story with Bryan Cranston playing Trumbo. Helen Mirran, Ashley Judd and John Goodman also star. Well worth watching and a great story.

It falls into my Occult/Devil genre that I like... so YMMV, but I still liked it. Some bullet points:
  • Henry Rollins has some good qualities for this movie, but he's just not a real actor.
Or at least, not a lead.
The story is maybe a tad slow and it definitely has that "indie" flavor to it, but I still like it.
It did have some interesting ideas
Not all were really played out/resolved
Still made me "think" in the end

I'd say at the end of the day, I'd give it a 6.5/10.

I assume you just grabbed the French DVD cover, or is this thing in French with English subtitles? My kids don't enjoy subtitles!!

No it's in english, that's just the best pic I could find with a quick search. Although it's animated so who knows, maybe it was originally french and they just dubbed it, I'm really not sure.

Hmm... Wikipedia says it has a whole different cast in french, so maybe they produced both at the same time?

Anyway, it was just fine in english, I didn't feel like it was out of sync or anything.
