What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

This was surprisingly good. You don't need to be a fan of F1 or racing to enjoy it. The story was solid (and true) on its own. Its replay value may be a little light so perhaps it's a better rental than purchase but definitely worthy of your time.

I've been sick for the last few days, so I've been on a movie watching binge.

Jurassic World -- Ugh, was this one bad. Like as in awful. As in painful to watch. How can you go wrong with Dinosaurs? Well, they did. Give it a 1/10

Dirty_pretty_things_FLYCUB20103.jpg

Dirty Pretty Things -- This one had a real 70's feel to it. Well acted, but the story, at least for me, was meh. Give it a 5/10.

MV5BMTgwMjAyNzA0N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMTcxOTIwNw@@._V1_UY268_CR3,0,182,268_AL_.jpg

War of the Arrows -- Good Korean period piece. Pretty good action and costumes and was a blockbuster in Korea. In Korean with English subtiltles. I'd say 7.5/10

Battle_of_Myeongryang_poster.jpg

The Admiral: Roaring Currents -- another Korean period piece. Again, pretty good action and costumes. Again, in Korean with English subtitles. Another 7.5/10

xgodepictitle.jpg.pagespeed.ic.y-91P3GZPS.jpg

The Godfather Epic -- This one combines the first two parts in chronological order into one REALLY long movie. Over 7hrs. It also has scenes that I don't remember seeing in DVD version I have. The Godfather 1 & 2 are both in my top 5 movies of all time. This one, with the re-edit of the movies, loses something that I'd have to watch the originals again to better define. Still great though and it was interesting to see some of the scenes that were deleted from the original. I'll say 9/10.

Hotel Transylvania 2 -- After watching a bunch of heavy movies, I wanted something lite. This did the trick. Is it a great flick? Naw, but it's still good. I liked the first one better. I'll say 6.5/10.

ecd54424cad560be0f822bb2bf6751cfc7dcf146.jpg

Crouching Tiger,Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny -- Meh. It was just ok. I'll give it 5/10.

jack-ryan-shadow-recruit-poster_huge.jpg

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit -- I'm not sure why I didn't like this one more, but i was left flat in the end. I'll have to say 6/10

77205l.jpg

Ajin: Demi Human -- Japanese Anime series. I watched the first season. I'm not normally an Anime guy, but this one was ok. It was good enough that I watched the first season. Give it a 7/10.

MV5BMTc0OTg2MzA0OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMTYxMjczNDE@._V1_SX640_SY720_.jpg

Why Horror -- Documentary that didn't seem have a good focus. It just seemed to meander around without much discussion of the central question. Still, it was ok. 5/10

MV5BODA2NTczODEwNF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwODY2OTQxNzE@._V1_UY1200_CR92,0,630,1200_AL_.jpg

All Things Must Pass -- Liked this documentary a lot more about the rise and fall of Tower Records. I'll give this one 7.5/10

I know I'm forgetting some others... but I can't recall at this point what they may have been.

Just finished watching The Good Dinosaur with the family. Absolutely LOVED it. Ok it's a little different from some of the other Pixar movies, a little more ... introspective? Subtle? Artistic? I don't know the right word. It's not as fast-paced like, say, The Incredibles, but it had a unique spirit all its own, which really worked for me. The story was very good, maybe not the best ever but quite touching. What really cinched it is the gorgeous natural scenery, which from a computer animation standpoint I thought was a step above anything I've ever seen.

I hadn't even heard of this movie or that it was coming out until I saw a blurb for it on Redbox, and had to wait a while for the BD to show up near me. But this one is definitely a purchase for me.

Watched Trainwreck with Amy Schumer and Bill Hader, and was surprised at how much I liked it. I kind of felt she was getting over exposed after this movie came out, but after seeing it, I can see why people were reacting the way they did. She was pretty believable in the movie and there were some funny moments and some touching moments.

Hands down, the funniest scene in the movie is John Cena's argument with the guy in the movie theater.

Took the family to see Captain America Civil War yesterday, and overall it was a good movie. Can't say it was my favorite, hard to see Captain and Iron Man fighting, but it was enjoyable none the less. Although the bad guy just didn't seem worthy or bad enough. And did I miss something? How did he have some of the footage that he did? I don't want to give anything away, but there were some parts that didn't make sense, although I did have to take the boy to the bathroom, so I missed 10 minutes.

13 Hours: The secret soldiers of Benghazi. Wow what an incredible action packed movie (It is a Michael Bay movie). If you liked Black Hawk Down you'll love this movie. I thought it was fantastic and well worth the cost. Based on a true story of a bunch of CIA soldiers in a secret compound a mile down the road from an "embassy home" of a senator that is overtaken by Libyans and these guys go to rescue them but are attacked themselves. They get no help whatsoever from the American Government as they are secret and not supposed to be there. Great movie.

Watched this again tonight, been a while, almost forgot how good it is. Even my younger daughter seemed to like it a lot.

Triple 9

*changed the image, it was giving away a bit more than you want to see...

bought this on a whim, had to try to finish watching this in three takes (been busy at home, dont have the time to watch it on one take... :(

anyways, it was one of the movies i REALLY wanted to see back in the theaters. i had high hopes for this one.

NOT a let down, but it couldve been better, great cast, just dry on certain scenes but still a great movie. rental but a buy in at the right price.

the enemy actress is almost unrecognizable at certain times. both of them.

agreed. not my most favorite movie, but definitely a buy! i was left wanting more, but was glad when i saw the ending credits. great movie, great to see micheal bay get back to what hes good at.

without reusing old movie material. :happy-smileygiantred:

Just watched Zootopia what a great movie with enough "in humor" that children won't get but adults will. I was rather surprised how much I liked this one.

Watched the new Peanuts movie - interesting adaptation of the classic characters in (semi) 3D, but overall I thought the movie was kinda meh. Not bad, worthy of a rental, but not something I'd rush out to buy.

Also just watched this:

16986470

Came across it randomly when searching redbox for something to rent. I love Murray, so I thought I'd take a chance. Definitely worth it! I liked this movie a lot, good story, good acting on Murray's part, a study of "real" people and their flaws and positives.

Finally watched "The Way Way back" great coming of age movie and reminded me of myself at that awkward age even more so as my family would go to the beach house during the summer. Great cast.

Just watched "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" or WTF for short. Movie bills itself a comedy but there was not one thing about this movie that was funny. It was more a serious war drama about a female news reporter sent over to a war zone in the Middle East. Seriously I'm watching this dull as Hell movie pondering when does the comedy start. This movie was dull, could care less about the characters and I sat thru the whole thing thinking at some point something funny has to happen as its a comedy. Save your money this movie was a waste of time.

Fantastic Preston Sturges movie. Chock full of his usual fast-paced hilarious dialogue and impossibly-funny situations.

i have to admit, i only watched it to see brienne of tarth as well as the queen from game of bones. shes hot.

movie wise, it was great, but i felt underwhelmed a bit, worth the rental in my book.

on the plane ride home, we watched

eye in the sky,

eye-in-the-sky.jpg

very well done, but kinda tried to do a bit too much in 2 hours or so.

good movie, but didnt get to see the ending.

even as a rental, i didnt want to pay to finish it up.

I also watched eye in the Sky Jomari it was a good movie. I loved the bug technology. Ending is not what you expect. Sad that this was Hans Grubers (Alan Rickman) last movie.

Watched this Friday night. I was surprised by how funny and clever it was while also being quite graphic. If you like to watch super hero movies with your kids, this is one you should watch after they go to bed. Worthy of purchase, reply factor off the charts, and the sound effects are demo worthy.

I'm also surprised I hadn't seen this movie mentioned much, if at all.

Easily my favorite comic book movie. Looking forward to the sequel!
