What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

I liked Rutgar in that movie where he was a blind homeless vet helping some kid get across country to his family and carried his walking stick which was a samurai sword and he fucked up alot of people because he used his blindness to his advantage. Hobo with gun looks like a Netflix choice.

It's available via NF streaming.

Well Deacon, finally saw this one. A bit... bizarre. But amusing, and my kids loved it.

One of my favorite all time movies and a very good BD edition though as in many older movies they could have done better a better job utilizing the 5.1 sound. PQ great for a 50 year old movie.

Have you ever seen the movie it was based on , Seven Samurai -- this movie is in my top ten

^ I've seen it and it was good despite being 3 hours and 25 minutes long. Given that it came out in 1954, it must have been quite a movie.

I recently watched 13 Assassins and couldn't help noticing the shadow of Seven Samurai.

Kids talked the wife and I into watching this. Glad I did, as it's been a while since we laughed this hard as a family during a movie.

What can you say - ninjas, cowboys, circus people and more ninjas.

Shades of David Carradine and "Kung Fu" . Oriental martial artist fleeing from pursuers ends up in the old west. some interesting camera work and a few really good reference scenes for sound.

I got this as a rental but will be keeping an eye out for a used BD copy to buy.

Note to Pauly - there is an opera played in parts of this movie. If you watch the flick maybe you will recognize the opera and let me know what it is.

Watched this last night, enjoyed it. Very nice cinematography, and good SQ. Yeah the plot is kinda so-so, but it's well done and can't say I've ever seen a martial arts/cowboy mix.

MZ, I didn't recognize the opera (I don't listen to that much opera), but from the subtitles and the credits, the main opera highlights with the female vocalist are from Verdi's Il Trovatore, performed by Maria Callas.

Well, the movie industry has to come up with something different to stay in business. They recently mixed aliens with cowboys so why not. :shifty:

Wait, I just remembered Red Sun.

This was on TCM last night - recorded and watched this morning.

Another favorite western. John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin and Andy Devine and directed by John Ford - doesn't get better than that.

As I said earlier, I completely expected to HATE this, but after watching I really liked it a lot. Really NICE eye-candy, had no trouble following the story and had an unexpected ending...I can see why it didn't catch on with mainstream audiences but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.
Ditto.
I would say it's a chick flick but for some reason it didn't put me to sleep. It's PG-13 but didn't show as much skin as it could have (would have made it more entertaining) despite all those hotties featured in this movie.

What I find really well done were editing and cinematography.

Cafe scene where they share a cup of coffee discussing their similarities and differences.

But, I'll have to check this one out.

Re: Righteous kill -

I was terribly disappointed in this one. Saw it a little over a year ago...And yes, they did act together "over a cup of coffee" in HEAT...
